Location is peaceful, close to ocean. Hotel itself looked fine, even artistic. However, the room was tired, dated, old. It appears to be 40 year old everything in the room. Decently maintained, but old. WiFi does not reach the room. Onsen was ok. Meals were ok, below average.
Nice and quiet. I enjoyed sitting at the common living room. Also enjoyed the morning coffee there. Meals were great and restaurant staff was very attentive. It's located at a park and away from the main road, so I walked out in the morning and watched the sun rise from the ocean. What a beautiful view! The bath was public shared with locals but was not crowded. I had a nice and relaxing stay.
We were told that our upstairs western style room was "their largest". It was good, but had a somewhat noisy vent fan above one bed. Unfortunately, wifi was only available in the bar area and was not as fast as expected. The onsen was very good and the outside pool very pleasant. Meals were Japanese style, tasty and adequate. Meals were different each day. Staff "protected" our parking space - which was appreciated especially when it was raining. Some staff spoke English and all were warm and welcoming.
Perched atop a hillside by the sea, this hotel forms the perfect base to explore the near-by Shimanto area of Kochi prefecture. Our room was generously sized and nicely appointed with two single beds in a Western-Japanese style. The private outdoor onsen offering forest view, is made of cast-iron, gives an impression of soaking in a dutch oven. Public onsens are well equipped and lives up to expectation. Delicious Japanese style dinner and breakfast were served in the restaurant, where drinks and extra dishes could be ordered at very reasonable prices. Wifi available in the lounge/bar area where one can relax with a nice selection of lifestyle mags.
