This hotel must be the biggest building in Shimanto City, with 10 floors. It’s super easy to find - right next to the communications tower and close to the outdoor shopping mall. Inside it’s calm and quiet. The rooms are plenty spacious enough, with crisp sheets and thick towels. AC works great. Only complaint would be the small pillows, just one per person, but that’s standard here in Japan. The breakfast buffet was top notch with a blend of Japanese and western options.
The hotel situated just next to a local shopping centre and a nice walk with few historic temple and tombs. The room servers everything you need and bed is nice and soft. Onsen (Hot spring) is shared between men and women at separate time. Nice breakfast with variety choice of western and Japanese food. Excellent service overall but I would like to take this chance to express my heartfelt thank to Y. Shimomura san (下村) for his outstanding service with care from the customer’s point of view that I have never experienced else where. Strongly recommended.
We are 4 adults travelling around Shikoku from Nov 20-27. On Nov 23, I discovered I have left a scarf in the wardrobe in the hotel I stayed the night before in Matsuyama. When I arrived New Royal Hotel Shimanto, we were greeted by Mr Miyazaki (I hope I spell it correctly). As I can't speak Japanese, I asked him to help to ring the hotel and told them to courier the scarf to the hotel that I will stay on Sunday night. Mr Miyazaki immediately rang the hotel & confirmed that the scarf will be sent accordingly. On Sunday night when I checked in to the hotel in Takamatsu, the staff at the front desk told me there was a parcel for me. Thank you so much Mr. Miyazaki for your excellent service. Mr Miyazaki is the best English speaking Japanese I have ever met while traveling in Japan.…
We have stayed at the New Royal Hotel Shimanto twice. Once was in the summer and once was in the winter. Both times we were satisfied with our room and the service we received. There is not a lot to do in Shimanto itself, but there are some good restaurants and around the small city are some beautiful spots to see. The only thing I would like to see improved at the hotel is the breakfast. It is okay, but lacks things such as milk (I don't like creamers in my coffee) and juice. If we go to Shimanto again, we would not hesitate to stay at this hotel for a third time.
Dull but clean rooms and spotless service. Good breakfast buffet with both japanese and western opt. Central location, just 100m from semi-indoor mall with several restaurants and large supermarket. 1-2 km from train station, ask for pickup. Free parking. In hanami season, on the hill next to the hotel is a perfect cherry-blossom picnic spot.
