The outdoor public bath was very nice, overlooking autumn leaves while you soak in the sulphur-smelling water. This hotel also offers private onsen for guests at a small price (depending on which private onsen you choose: 1000 or 2000 yen for 45mins). We had a japanese style room whilst our parents had the junior suite room. The junior suite room...

It's a very big hotspring hotel. Modern architecture, not traditional Japanese style. Nevertheless, it is quite good. The open-air hotspring baths are particularly good. The food is not bad too. The room is traditional tatami room. It has free shuttle bus that takes you to and from Yamagata train station.

I stayed for a night at the cherry blossom season this year, this hotel is nice to accept solo traveller's reservation. I browsed through their website and found that they have a pick up service at the Yamagata JR station at 4pm everyday (reservation in advance required). It would be great if they can offer 2 to 3 pick up...

I was there in 2013 with the earthquake. Skiing is my favourite sport. I used to go skiing every season. In 2013, I chose to go to Zao. Kokusai hotel provided a great ski in out location and hotel had nice room and onsen. On 11 March morning, it was sunny and a very good day for skiing. We were...

I stayed in this hotel on the 9th Feb this year after making reservation thru their japanese website. The plan is " 祝!5つ星の宿受賞記念SALE★10室限定×公式HP限定 & room type is "omakase" which is upto the hotel to assign the room. This is a mistake because I have forgotten to request for a non smoking room & when checked in, was given a smoking...

We took a trip on the Shinkansen to Yamagata and then up to Zao Onsen ski resort / hot spa town. When we travel in Japan there is always a temptation to play safe and stay in a western oriented hotel. Thankfully on this occasion we turned totally japanese. The room at the kokusai is a beautifully designed living space....

I stayed here for a skiing vacation with a group of friends for 6 nights during the prime snow season. This hotel, and the town, is very much orientated toward the Japanese tourist. This can be great to immerse yourself in the culture, but does provide some small complications that can be easily navigated through. Getting to the hotel is...

Stayed one night in April 2014 Like: - Great Onsen / Large, well organised, with outdoor Onsen - Next to ski lift. Can walk right out of hotel - Very good dinner - Lovely traditional Japanese style room - Walking distance to town's main centre, with more choices of foods and some groceries shopping Don't Like: - Unorganised pick up....

If you're vegetarian do not bother, or buy snacks before hand at yamagata station. They said they would try to accomodate me for the set dinner menu which comes with the room, and then I was faced with a plate of raw fish, next more raw fish and a dead prawn looking at me. I did say just extra rice...

A hot spring of Zao is the hot spring which is really good in Japan. The bath using the hot spring is kind to skin using woodenness. The splendor of this hotel is a feeling of cleanliness. I am going to use it once again for the winter skiing season.
