Beautiful room facing the wood. Perfecting relex with sounds of bird chirping and stream flowing. Service is good. Sumptuous breakfast and dinner. Room facilities are clean though a little dated. Location is perfect. Walkable to city center yet totally private and hidden.

The place is hidden away in the woods, those of you who value privacy, this is the place for you ! Another 5 min drive from the town center, this osen hotel is an award winning osen for its service and quality. Our room has clean , spacious and has its own foot bath pool. We made a reservation for the private bath and was taken by the scenic setting of it (the woods), and since Kirishima is in the volcanic zone, the hot spring offers two types of water you can dip in, a sulphate pool and a mineral pool. Even the public baths offer the two options. The temperature of the sulphate pool is hotter than the mineral pool , so it is recommended to dip into the mineral one to get your blood circulation going before switching. The food (dinner and breakfast) was traditional, fresh and reflects the local produces! We had two really nice meals and were really satisfied with the quality and presentation! But the staff here do not speak a lot of English, so it might be difficult to get around. Even so, it is so worth the experience!

This ryokan is situated in a beautiful national park. In the night, we can hear the sound of rushing down the river and they have open air baths right next to the river. It could be a real romantic getaway. However, no GPS can find this ryokan. Our GPS couldn't locate it and made us drive around the area for an extra hour, we had to ask the locals. We had a nice room facing the river and the thick forests. Our room had a safety deposit box which the batteries were low and hard to operate, the air conditioner stop working in the middle of the night and the hair dryer which spit out a fire. Another words, they aren't maintaining their amenities in their rooms. If you are willing to put up with these nonsense then, it's for you.

Husband and I went to Seiyuso in this Christmas break. Service was prefect, staff served the welcome tea with plum favor, then asked us to reserve the time of private hot spring and meal when we checked-in. Rooms was great, had our private hot spring in the balcony. But i prefer the private family hot springs, there are 2 in total, both are big and the water is hot enough. Dinner and breakfast was set before we entered the dining area. The most impressive point is all staff were carrying their smile all the time, they helped us to create a great moment in Seiyuso. Noted: Dining area and bathing area are not in the room.
