spent a night in Oshu to see a matsuri. Did not expect much of the hotels but Route inn delivers a very nice, unexpensive service. Room size is pretty decent, WIFI is excellent ans there is a good onsen on the ground floor (i'm not sure they advertise it on their website). Very nice staff. breakfast average

We have stayed at this chain before. This location is pretty much like their other locations. It isn't exactly a budget hotel, but a good value. Rooms are quite small here, but clean. Fit inside of a tiny double was a mini fridge, hot pot. Good WiFi. Breakfast buffet had both Japanese and Western offerings, although the hotel seems to cater more to Japanese than foreigners. There didn't seem to be any foreign clientele. English language support was rudimentary, but the staff were friendly, helpful and courteous. The hotel is located centrally near a small shopping mall (Maple) which has probably seen better days, but the mall has a few restaurants, 100 yen shop and grocery store. The hotel is near the Mizisawa JR train station (Tohoku line), but NOT the Mizusawa Esashi Shinkansen station (which is on the other side of the river). There are many small businesses in the area, and the Mizusawa park (nice green space) is about a 10 minute walk away. My impression from friends whom I was visiting, this is the main 'big' hotel in the town.
