We chose this hotel as a one-night enroute accommodation from Aomori to Sendai. We chose to book room 204 as the setting is of mainly white in colour with touches of black and silver. Each of the rooms is of a different ambience and setting which you may feel free to choose from subject to availability. In the room, we had a free minibar with welcome cake, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. We have a nespresso coffee capsule machine, an in-room onsen, a jacuzzi bathtub and great bathroom amenities in the room. The restaurant for dinner and breakfast was great in ambience and setting. Food quality and tastes were great!!! There is nightly (I believe) live entertainment at the lobby and the performer was awesome who could sing and play Japanese and English songs. The staff, especially ‘Tomou’ really know how to make our stay an unforgettable one by arranging the pianist playing some of our favourite songs, arranging a nice fruit platter and bottle of champagne to celebrate our anniversary. It’s an almost perfect stay with great hardware and software! Just hope that we could have more time to spend in the hotel upon our next return to the hotel!!!

There are many wonderful things to love about Jusangatsu - the spacious rooms, shower booth with mist sauna function, and of course the huge semi-outdoor pure onsen bath attached to the room with a large terrace area next to it, and it all looks out on pretty little river in a mountainside setting. We loved it! Meals are also meticulously prepared and they indulge you with huge amounts of food, all served in multiple small portions in traditional style. And of course you have to stick around for the live, after-dinner entertainment by the former maitre d'hotel, who plays a mean synthesizer and has a golden voice! One advantage Jusangatsu offers over some other luxury ryokans is that next door is the historical main traditional therapeutic spa. This part is not a luxury ryokan, but it does have an amazing communal onsen bath called Shiro-zaru no Yu. Because there is only one location it is co-ed(!), but there are certain times of the day set aside exclusively for women (men don't get that privilege). But you really owe it to yourself to try it. The bath itself is at the bottom of the stairs, so from below it looks like a large dome with a tall ceiling, and the bath is about 150 cm deep so you can stand neck or chest deep in the healing spring. It's hard to adequately describe the enchanting atmosphere, but it is mesmerizing. Finally, the whole thing is priced ridiculously reasonably relative to what you get in return. Pretty incredible, actually. About the only shortcoming is that some, though not all, the staff are a little unsophisticated. But the effort is obvious, and they are not by any means rude or anything like that. I guess that's part of the deal this far out in the countryside, and it is certainly not a fatal flaw.
