We chose to stay at L'Auberge de Plaisance Sakurai for two reasons. One its kind of centrally located within the Nara prefecture so its easy to access all the interesting places in the whole prefecture and not just Nara city. Two, because of the French food. And we were pleased that the place delivered in spades on both counts. The auberge itself is located adjacent to a rice paddy farm which provides for perfect sunset pictures. Our twin room was kind of small but still spacious though their suites are really big. The bathroom was small but clean and functional complete with necessary amenities. The best part of our stay was the food. French cuisine using local ingredients - couldn't get better. The vegetables which we were served for dinner were harvested that very morning which is as fresh as it gets. The presentation was great but not gimmicky and the taste, flavours, umami was outstanding. The kitchen also offers training to young student chefs which is like doing a good cause as well. Only thing not so convenient about this place is it does not have a shuttle bus service from the train station but aside from that everything is great.…
