We stayed there with my children 11 and 15 and what to say, from the 2 ryokans we spent 2 night in each, all beautiful, this one is the most charming place to stay. they do have a private absolutely wonderful garden which goes along with the rooms and the service..and i am not even talking about the onsens...wow !

Nishimuraya Honkan is truly an amazing place. It's far from cheap, but once you'll get there you'll understand why. Our room was towards the back of the hotel, with a very convoluted route to get there. In our room we understood why, each room looks out onto a garden, careful arranged to make sure no-one else can look in. The... More

This is actually a delayed review from a March 2014 trip to Kinosaki. Traditional ryokan experience. Amazing experience with exceptional service. Kinosaki is a beautiful rural japanese onsen village and Nishimuraya is the ultimate luxury ryokan. I think we looked slightly ridiculous getting about town with our clogs and yakuta visiting the different onsens but who cares! The onsens in... More

I booked this ryokan on the recommendation of a friend and it was truly amazing, unforgettable - if you want to experience something truly beautiful in Japan this is the place for you - its definitely not cheap but it is worth every $$$ you spend. My husband and I were lucky enough to have a room with our own... More

If you are looking for a traditional Japanese Guest House experience you cannot beat this accomodation. Honkan is located in Kinosaki Onsen which is a small spa (onsen) town about 2 hours away from Kyoto. Originally I wanted to try a Ryokan in Kyoto but due to the expense and the quality decided to stay here and I could not... More

Beautifully styled decor, delicious food, warm hosts and a wonderful onsen experience. I hope this isn’t a once in a lifetime as i’d love to visit Nishimuraya Honkan again. The Kaiseki dinner was a 10 course work of art. Kinosaki Onsen is a charming town and we enjoyed clip clopping around the streets in our sandals. If you’re searching for... More

My wife and I stayed at Nishimuraya Honkan for our honeymoon and we had an amazing time. From emails exchanged prior to our stay to the time we stayed, we were treated with attentiveness and care that I have never experienced. When we got out of the Kinosakionsen station, a shuttle bus for NIshimuraya was waiting already. When the driver... More

The Nishimura Honkon (main building) is located near the end of the onsen street which takes about 15 minutes to walk from the train station. And since it is located off the main area, it occupied a bigger lot than most other hotels. The annex hotel is much bigger in size and therefore located even further down from the corner... More

I trusted the reviews on this ryokan and I wasn't disappointed. Everything about it (the room, the garden, the ambiance, the cuisine, the staff) was beyond my expectations. Especially our gracious room attendant, who made us feel special.

From the moment we arrived we knew we were in for a special experience. Welcoming staff, beautiful room, tranquil atmosphere and fantastic food. Absolutely fantastic. The onsen in the hotel is lovely, the larger one is perfect although I was less taken by the smaller one. A little more expensive than others we looked at but the attention to detail... More
