This hotel is large and a bit dated, but they are trying hard. The décor is a bit mixed at the moment - part country/shabby chic and other parts more dated...so it's a work in progress. The rooms are a very good size and the bathroom and room facilities were all as you would expect in a 3-4 star hotel.... More

Stayed here for one night on business, staff helpful and polite, the room was of a good size with all the usual extras. The hotel itself however is in need of a lick of paint as they say, The breakfast was good and cooked to order with the usual continential selection as well. Overall was good value for money.

The hotel claims it is a 3 star hotel. I never stayed in such a dirty place from the smell of the bed to the state of the bathroom, this place needs to be renovated and cleaned! The service is on top of it very poor and staff unhelpful. I highly recommend finding an alternative hotel if you have to... More

The hotel is grubby and in need of a Refurb. Our room felt old fashioned, cold and had a musty smell and we had inadequate toiletries in the room (hand wash fixed in the bath and shower gel fixed in by the sink). The bed also was not very comfortable. Breakfast was OK but nothing special. On the plus side... More

The Sunday roast carvery is absolutely fantastic. The setting is what you would expect in a small country hotel. The service is outstanding, with attentive friendly staff. The food is really what it is all about. The carvery offer is of a very high standard and the portions are generous. The roasted meats; turkey, pork, gammon and beef; are all... More

We have not stayed in the hotel. But we have called here to eat in the bar on a regular basis, summer & winter, for several years. This after waking with our dog in this fabulous area. We were shocked recently to be told they "no longer want dogs in the bar". We have always met up friends & usually... More

We went to a birthday party a few miles away and unfortunately it coincided with Goodwood so there wasn't a lot of accommodation available. We plumbed for the Devils Punchbowl (in truth - I liked the name) and saw the reviews but thought what the hell, give it a whirl. We arrived just before closing time in the bar and... More

Very disappointed with the sandwich and fries offering I received, tuna mayonnaise on very inferior brown bread, so thin I could see through it! Staff seemed uninterested in customer satisfaction and there seemed a desire to just take your order as though you were a bother even though there were no other customers!! Not sure I would return, the only... More

We took 3 rooms at this hotel on a Saturday night. We were a famly group. The reception lady was excellent and helpful at letting us have one of the rooms early so we could get changed for a wedding. The room was on the 1st floor, no lift. Doors, handles and paintwork everywhere was dirty and the room had... More

Decided to try The Devil's Punchbowl when we were unable to get a table any nearby pub for supper. We should perhaps have known by the absence of other diners on this weekday night that it was not a good sign... The calamari resembled no calamari I've had before and was overcooked in breadcrumbs and tasted like rubber. Scampi -... More
