We went to a birthday party a few miles away and unfortunately it coincided with Goodwood so there wasn't a lot of accommodation available. We plumbed for the Devils Punchbowl (in truth - I liked the name) and saw the reviews but thought what the hell, give it a whirl. We arrived just before closing time in the bar and... More

Very disappointed with the sandwich and fries offering I received, tuna mayonnaise on very inferior brown bread, so thin I could see through it! Staff seemed uninterested in customer satisfaction and there seemed a desire to just take your order as though you were a bother even though there were no other customers!! Not sure I would return, the only... More

We took 3 rooms at this hotel on a Saturday night. We were a famly group. The reception lady was excellent and helpful at letting us have one of the rooms early so we could get changed for a wedding. The room was on the 1st floor, no lift. Doors, handles and paintwork everywhere was dirty and the room had... More

Decided to try The Devil's Punchbowl when we were unable to get a table any nearby pub for supper. We should perhaps have known by the absence of other diners on this weekday night that it was not a good sign... The calamari resembled no calamari I've had before and was overcooked in breadcrumbs and tasted like rubber. Scampi -... More

We stayed at the hotel following a visit to Hollybourne Steam Fair, as part of a hen do. Whilst the hotel decor is a bit tired, the food was good, and rooms clean and comfortable. We had a lovely quiet room towards the back of the hotel with scenic views of woodland. The highlight though had to be the staff... More

Stopped here on my way home from the West Country. It is 2 minutes' walk from the actual Devils Punchbowl, around which there are numerous paths for walkers. Lovely spot to sit and relax. End of road location so no through traffic. Bar food is regular pub food, cooked breakfast was fine but was charged at additional cost. My room... More

Booked one night for family gathering locally, quick dinner before we left for the evening, we had the Asian platter could not fault it everything tasted home made and very good portions. I am in a wheelchair and again everyone very helpful, disabled access good. Large choice for breakfast again all freshly cooked.

We were looking forward to our night here as the Booking.com information seemed fine, it was a last minute decision to tie in with a day out the next day. We should have taken notice of the reviews! We came in through the side entrance from the car park into a stark, uninviting bar area, devoid of any welcoming comfort.... More

It's about 13 years since we last stayed at this hotel and time has left its toll. The public bar and restaurant are not to bad but the hotel side is in need of some tlc. At first glance the room was ok but soon noticed the shabby paintwork and a particularly grim stain in the wardrobe, very odd. The... More
