We were looking forward to our night here as the Booking.com information seemed fine, it was a last minute decision to tie in with a day out the next day. We should have taken notice of the reviews! We came in through the side entrance from the car park into a stark, uninviting bar area, devoid of any welcoming comfort.... More

It's about 13 years since we last stayed at this hotel and time has left its toll. The public bar and restaurant are not to bad but the hotel side is in need of some tlc. At first glance the room was ok but soon noticed the shabby paintwork and a particularly grim stain in the wardrobe, very odd. The... More

This is a perfect location to visit the DevilsPunchbowl. The hotel itself is peaceful and the building is amazingly historic.Food, staff, service and cleanliness were brilliant and we will be back again, for longer next time. Felt some of the reviews on this site were a bit unkind.

As soon as we arrived we are asked if we wanted our bags taken to the room. Polite person at reception. Very nice room. Great bar with various ales/ beers. Had trouble with hot water to begin with. Took a while to come through. Also bed was hard and lumpy.

We stayed at The Devil's Punchbowl for four nights and ate in for three of those. The Hotel is situated very close to The Devils Punchbowl, National Trust scenic beauty spot and, although once on the busy A3, is now on a cul-de-sac the A3 having disappeared into a tunnel a few miles away! The food was good, service friendly... More

We only stayed one night, but to be honest that always enough. The staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful, and making the best of what they had to deal with. Our room was old, and in need of repair. The window catch was broken which meant we had to keep the window shut (we were on the ground... More

we were greeted by Jonnie who couldn't have cared less about our experience. We sat outside and for most of our visit Jonnie stood and smoked nearby our table and played on his phone with one eye on the bar as I presume this was not a scheduled break. Our food when it arrived was very underwhelming... frozen pizza straight... More

Can't understand what everyone finds so wrong with this pleasant hotel. No it's not the Ritz and yes it is slightly 'faded grandeur' but hey just look at the price, where you are, the quality of the rooms and the friendliness of the excellent staff. I took a party of 9 here for one night on Saturday and everyone thought... More

I used to live in Hindhead and back in the late 1970s and early 80s the Punchbowl was the place to go with great beer, great food and a great atmosphere. In an area where there were several good pubs close by, it was the best. 30 X years + on it still looks good, but just does not seem... More

Stopped here for one night , thankfully . The staff are friendly and helpful but the hotel is worn and the cleanliness is questionable. My room was basic , beds are basic and cheap. The whole bedroom could do with modernisation as well as the bathroom. The shower was fine, but again could do with an upgrade. The food in... More
