It's about 20 minute walk from the ferry terminal, but the staff gave me a ride both ways. It's a public-run hotel and looks like it. The staff do their best. The room is old and tired, badly in need of reburshing. The bed is as hard as rock, very uncomfortable. I had dinner there - no choice, just take it or leave it - but it was actually quite tasty. I chose this hotel because it was the only one open in this Covid January. It there had been anything else open, I wouldn't have stayed here.
Stayed two nights here on the Miyajima/Hiroshima leg of our trip. A traditional Japanese Inn with traditional rooms, dinner, breakfast and public baths. I think we were the only western family there - rest were Japanese- so felt authentic. Traditional sleeping arrangements were tough on my back but, that’s just me. Meals were fine although as expected, my teenage daughter struggled somewhat with the content. Baths in line with what you’d expect. Walk from Inn to ferry port about 15/20 minutes; ferry across about 10 minutes; JR train to Hiroshima about 30 minutes so, requires a bit of thought/planning to make the trip across (and back). Staff friendly but very limited English which again adds to the authenticity. Seemed to be a problem to get a taxi on final morning to port-not sure if lost in translation somewhat, but ended up walking in 35c heat with bags.…
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Not too far about 15-20 mins from ferry terminal by foot. Close to the famous shrine and temples. Location is good as can get to high street and attractions by foot. Breakfast was enjoyable too.
This was my second stay here, and I enjoyed it as much as the first time. If you love seafood, this is an amazing place. Halfboard is included and its a fantastic experience. Very little Englisch is spoken and often you dont really know what you are eating, but that is not a problem at all and for me adds to the experience. If you stay only one night, you will have a several course dinner, with 3 to 5 dishes including oysters. If you stay a second night (like we did), you will have other dishes like tempura, sashimi, a table bbq etc. on the second night. Breakfast is also several small tasty dishes and Japanese as well. There is a onsen and you get to choose a bathrobe to use during your stay. The location is quiet and right on the sea, next to the aquarium (use the shuttle, or take a taxi when leaving or arriving). The rooms we had are Japanese style with tatami mats and Futon beds (you have to make up your own bed), which I very much enjoyed. The funiture is quite dated, which especially shows in the toilet, which is constantly running water, and that can be a bit annoying. Also, there is no decoration at all, which is a bit of a pity. Not much would be neeeded to make to make the room a bit more cosy and personal.…
The island is really amazing, so lush and the occasional wildlife. The location is very quiet also because there are not a lot of cars on the island. We had to try this Ryokan (traditional Japanese hotel) for one night, rooms have tatami mats and futon beds so basically you are sleeping on the floor. But it's okay for one night, they serve a traditional diner and breakfast, which is quite different from the western meals we are used to. It has a shuttle service and you need to call the hotel at the moment of the ferry departure so they have ample time to get at the pickup point.
