Mr. Watanabe is a 4th generation innkeeper, and his inn is beautiful. He and his lovely wife and charming children made our stay so enjoyable. The food prepared by their chef was fantastic, and our lodgings so comfortable - spacious, tranquil, tastefully decorated, and immaculate. Further, we were so thrilled to find it was located literally right across the street... More

This was one of our favorite stays in Japan. They will pick you up and drop you off at the pier and helps you understand what's worth seeing and where it is. Dinner was fantastic too. We had sashimi, snapper, steak and lots of other traditional dishes. Breakfast was also a treat. We had the Japanese breakfast which was great.... More

Having just spent 2 weeks touring around Japan, I have to say that staying in Watanabe was the highlight of the trip. The owners were extremely welcoming and went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed the experience to the maximum. We stayed in the "loft" room, which was just perfect and the food was amazing - some... More

We spent 2 nights at Watanabe in August 2016. This ryokan has it all: very niche traditional building, spacious rooms with all comforts and nice wood tubs to soak in, delicious home made food presented with great care and taste, wonderful and friendly owners, quiet and convenient location to explore the island!!! We really enjoyed our stay and especially enjoyed... More

We loved the location of this ryokan, the owners were fantastic and went out of their way to make you feel at home. The rooms had great views and the food delicious. Made us all feel relaxed and we did not want to leave

Early December last year, we stayed at Auberge Watanabe, for 2 nights. Our meticulous room was at the back, with a view of a little stream and the beautiful fall color which could still be enjoyed at that time, we had the most memorable stay. As we casually mentioned about our wedding anniversary that fell on the very day of... More

This was a fantastic ryokan. The only one we stayed at in Japan, but fantastic. We had a room overlooking the stream in back. So peaceful. The room was huge with multiple little rooms. Exactly what I wanted out of a traditional Japanese Inn. Everyone was incredibly accommodating and friendly. The pick-up and drop off service was a nice touch... More

I picked this guesthouse upon the recommendation of my friend who had stayed previously. The reviews on TA were also excellent. We booked a night in their smallest Rikyu room for 18,900JPY per person inclusive of breakfast and dinner. When we reached the ferry terminal at Miyajima, we were instructed to approach the tourist information counter to contact the inn... More
