We stayed in an ocean view room for 2 nights in January 2016. I requested a room on a high floor and we were given room 301, which was the highlight of our trip: - Room: Japanese style with tatami mats and futon, and an adjacent bathroom with separate shower room. We had an amazing view out to sea and... More

My husband and I stayed here during our honeymoon. We were here for two nights. They were two of the best nights we had while traveling Japan. Perfect hotel location, not to mention the views of the water from our room?! It was perfect. By far the most "honeymoon-esque" place we stayed. The kaiskei dinner included both nights was out... Me and my family stayed in this hotel for one night during our holiday in Japan. The hotel is facing the sea, with views of the mainland. It has no direct view of the Itsukushima shrine, which we really appreciated, however, the shrine and the Jinja are just 10 minutes walk. Dinner is a typical Japanese meal, especially seafood, appreciable... More

Location of the hotel was very close to the Ferry Pier and it would be very convenient if you have to carry heavy luggage. We stayed there for one night. The hotel room was a bit dated but still very clean and comfortable. Our room did not have a view so the windows were kept closed. The staff were helpful... More

Travelled in Japan for two weeks. Stayed in all sorts of places. This was by far the most wonderful place I slept it. It's a ryokan in a hotel, so you get the best of both worlds, a mix of tradition and comfort. The meals cater to everyone, from those with sophisticated taste palates (raw squid for breakfast) to everyone... More

Location wise was great - 3 mins walk from the pier, this saves you a lot of pain especially if you have huge luggage bags. In addition, its only a 5mins walk away from the Itsukushimi shrine and the Torii. Really convenient - especially allows you to visit the Torii at night to see it bathed in flood lights. Staff... Miyajima is best appreciated as an overnight stay to soak up the atmosphere and see the spectacular torii of the Itsukushima Shrine either as the sun is setting, or lit up after dark. The Miya rikyu hotel was fine for a night's stay, though the decor was a little tired and drab and smelt of cigarette smoke - their were... More

We chose this hotel as our first time at a traditional Japanese ryokan, and were certainly not disappointed! The location of the hotel is great, only a few minutes walk from the ferry, with wonderful view of the sea! We chose a traditional style room with futon mattresses, they were really comfortable! Rooms were big and spacious, we opted for... More

This was my first experience of staying in a Japanese traditional inn, or ryokan. It wasn't what I expected but I think the approach is typical of others I have stayed in since. It's a modern hotel in a great location on the waterfront at Miyajima. However the rooms are in traditional style with seat ing on the floor, tatami... More
