Over 350 species of birds live in this virgin landscape. The ideal starting point for excursions into the Iberá marshlands is the village of Colonia Carlos Pellegrini. The panoramic view of our park and the lake right out front, crowded with colourful birds, invites you to explore Argentina’s nature. Either on the boat or on foot you will get a demonstration of the variety of the swamp’s strange sounds while observing the night active animals. We stopped at Irupe lodge in March 2020 before the coronavirus lockdowns and it was the most amazing place. It's not easy to get to but is so worth it.Regi was really helpful in accommodating our travel plans and advising us and dropping us at Posadas bus station for our journey north. The hotel is right on the lake it is a great location, the staff are really helpful, we had a few communication issues with not knowing Spanish well enough but it wasnt a problem. We had 2 boat safaris and 1 horseback, the boat trips in particular were really special seeing so much wildlife up close and the guides Fatima & Danielle were very knowledgable and helpful. The rooms were spacious and airy, only thing we were surprised was that there wasn't a mosquito net but we had our own so this didn't matter. The pool is lovely it was so hot we couldn't sit out for long but had a dip in the sun. The breakfast was tasty and the evening meals were especially good! Would love to come back again one day it's a truly special place I hope it doesn't change too much.

I stayed here 2 nights. I was the only guest but i did not mind that. In a way lovely as all the staff are just there for you. The pool was nice. I had the more luxe room and the difference in price is not that much but you get so much more. More private, more room, much better. The also have excursions if you book it all incl. I must admit the guide i had was really great. We saw so many animals, hè was funny and was fun to do the excursions. Hè only spoke english but with the limited spanish a speak i was still able to understand all if necesarry hè explained it with other Words to make sure that i understood all. I did notice that the screen to keep the muzzy out was broken. So i did had Some bites. For the rest all where nice and as they also have a boot to run the excursions on the lake it was nice to do that. When we had the excursions i really liked it that i was only with the guide and that our boot was not full with other passagiers so that you can see more animals.

I would recommend Irupe Lodge to anyone. We had an incredible time, Regi planned our stay to perfection. Fours tours, including a boat trip, two walks & a horse ride. Ibera is a haven of wildlife and nature. We saw howler monkeys, caiman, capybaras, all sorts of incredible birds. Ingrid our English speaking guide was brilliant, so knowledgeable and Marco at the lodge was amazing!

Not our original choice due to a booking issue at another property. The place is right on the lake which is an attractive view. The property is in places a little tired and needs a bit of maintenance to tidy up. Rooms ok with good air conditioning. The restaurant is Ok although the breakfast is just a tiny selection. We did a full board package which probably saves money overall. There seem to be very little choice of other restaurants in area. Has a nice pool which in the summer months would be great. I recommend if you want to do tours book down at the camp as a boat tour on lake will only cost 350 pesos if booked at camp. The boat trip in the evening was excellent and we saw a lot of local wildlife.

I would not recommend Irupe Lodge to my worst enemy. The food was poor, the room adequate and the reception area was quite run down. Two other groups of people stayed during the same time as us (one an Argentinian couple and the other a solo German lady) and both expressed the same opinion about the food. The staff were quite friendly but because of their lack of English we had difficulties communicating. They also seemed to be relatively inexperienced and not really prepared for guests as they ran out of soft drinks soon after we arrived. We had several outings on the nearby Ibera lagoon and they did go as far as finding an English speaking guide for the boat trips which was a plus. We were supposed to have a private transfer from Posadas airport to the lodge but our driver arrived late and also brought another couple which made the journey very cramped. I would happily return to the area but would require another place to stay.
