The room is clean and in medium size. The food is good and not over priced. There are indoor and outdoor onsens. During 8-9pm, the outdoor onsen is only for female residents. Car park is free and free wifi is available in the lobby. The only drawback is that the onsen cannot be reached easily by public transport.

We went there during mid November last year and since the peak season for red leaves has finished, not many people staying in there, However, because of this reason, we can enjoy the facilities (both outdoor and indoor onsen) freely and quietly. The outdoor onsen is a mix sex onsen and we need to take a little walk there from... More

Stayed for one night. Any onsen stay is not cheap and this was no exception. However when you analyse what you get i.e traditional Japanese ryokan accommodation, amazing top quality, traditional food and access to multiple onsen facilities, the price is easier to accept. The setting is magic. High in the mountains of the Nyuto area above Lake Tazawa. Access... More

This was our first outdoor Onsen experience and it was picture perfect with snow. It was an adventure getting here by train to Tozawako Station and then a wonderful bus ride through snowy landscapes to arrive at Ganbida. We were sorry to be only staying one night. The setting was magical and our banquet meal delicious. With very little Japanese... More

My wife, toddler and mother-in-law stayed at the Ganiba Onsen for two nights in February 2010. Getting to the ryokan was surprisingly easy - we took the Komachi Shinkansen from Tokyo Station and were at Tazawa-ko station three hours later. A bus that takes 45-50 minutes then took us from the station almost directly (100 m away) to a stop... More
