We stayed for a ski weekend in January. The hotel was cozy and charming, the room was perfect, and the staff were fantastic! They serve coffee and cake in the afternoon, which was a perfect end to a day of skiing when paired with the bottle of champagne we picked up at the grocery store on the way in. I have to give a shout out to the chef. The food was excellent! I had the ribs, which might be the best I’ve ever had. We loved our stay so much, we booked another weekend as we were driving out of town. And, when we were back we both had the ribs for dinner!
Late in the afternoon while driving cross country we realised we needed a place to stay for the night. We picked des Alpes more or less by chance. And what a gem we found. It is not big. On the contrary. Not only did this smaller property look like a dream chalet, the hosts made us feel like we were welcomed to a cozy home instead of a hotel as they asked if we "wanted to join them for dinner". The rooms are stylish with very comfy beds and a nice terrace/balcony. The lobby with the fireplace was a great place to relax and am sure even cozier in the winter. During the summer their meal offerings are limited and are made on the terrace BBQ. Simple but very tasty grill dishes and salads. And it really felt as we were eating in someone's home rather than a hotel. The breakfast was great yet not as plentyful as many resorts would offer, but far far better than most other places. We didnt miss anything vital and we are serious about breakfasts. The only thing we regret is that we only stayed one night. But with the proximity to the slopes it will definitely be on our mind for next winter's ski trip or another mountain hike later this summer.…
This was the 3 rd hotel of our tour and we made the right choice, best spacious rooms with very comfortable bathroom, panoramic views, very close to skiing area, the breakfast buffet was full of choices, the best Bircher muesli is available, get free coffee as and when required, we felt rejuvenated here
The Hotel des Alpes is a great little property in Saanenmoser, a village close to Gstaad. The hotel is very close to the station and there are regular trains to Gstaad if you do not have a car (but also parking on site if you do). The staff are friendly, the rooms are quiet, modern and very comfortable. The design is cosy and exudes a feeling of elegance and quality - everything from the door handles to the beds is just perfect. Lots of raw pine wood and leather in the alpine style. The prices are lower than in Gstaad itself, but still crazy high, but Gstaad has more Bentleys and Rolls Royces than we have seen anywhere else in Switzerland. Our stay was a pleasure so we'd definitely come back. We were able to get a fold out bed for our daughter. Breakfast is simple, but the coffee was good and the local cheese and breads excellent. Dinner was relaxed and enjoyable too (and not too pricey). I would have given the place five stars except for the fact that during our stay the Wifi was down, which was stressful for the staff, who said the server had been hacked and Swisscom had cut off the internet service. I hope that it is restored quickly because Hotel Des Alpes really is a gem.…
Although this small boutique hotel is near Saanenmöser station the trains are super quiet and you do not notice them. In winter the hotel is very handy for the ski lift and in summer it is good for hiking. The decor throughout is an attractive modern version of chalet style. We had a delightful spacious room facing west with a terrace. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the only thing lacking was a table lamp on the desk. Rooms to the south and west have views towards the mountains. A nice touch was the tea, coffee and cake that are offered in the afternoon without charge. There is a limited menu served in the evening with the possibility of eating at a sister hotel in Schönried. We enjoyed our stay despite finding the price high for a three star establishment.
I didn't expect too much and was very surprised by this hotel. Modern, warm and friendly. The rooms are large, having a chalet atmosphere, but with a modern touch. The staff is very keen and tries to accommodate you as much as they can.
Were there the first time. We met super friendly staff, a very clean and modern furnished room and a warm ambience. Real "alps feeling" thank to great design. Check-in and check-out were quick, no charge for parking. Everything great. Big thanks!
We had a ground floor room that was very clean, spacious and nicely decorated. Their complementary sparkling water in our room was the best ever I have tasted. Breakfast is a piece of art specially when having it outdoors in the terrace that overlooks the mountains. Hotel style and theme is authentic and very environment friendly. Our stay was relaxing and amusing. Gondola lifts are 5 minutes driving that takes you to the top of the mountains at Rellerli where also you could have a nice lunch at the restaurant while enjoying the view from the top of the Swiss Alps. It was a lovely amazing experience
I've been travelling quite a bit in the past 20 years, and had the pleasure of staying at a number of rather luxurious and high priced hotels. But never before have I experienced more genuine hospitality than at this Hotel in the Swiss Alpes near Gstaad. I was greeted with my name when I first walked in and the experience was absolutely consistent from that moment on. The best thing about it: it felt totally genuine and not trained. That's become extremely rare... Although I had booked a single room in the cheapest category for one night only, I got upgraded to a beautiful spacious double room. The hotel is essentially a B&B although it does offer a small menu of warm dishes in the evening as well. In addition they co-operate with their main hotel (Kernen) which is two minutes down the road. You can eat there and put it on your room bill. Very convenient. The 'des Alpes' doesn't offer a pool or spa area... but if you are looking for a cozy, relaxed, super-friendly place to stay, this is it!…
I booked this hotel on line when I couldn't get into the same hotel that my friends were staying at. It was nicely located, on the mail street near ski rental shops and not far from the place where you buy tickets and get on the gondolla. The hotel is nicely decorated, rustic/modern. Breakfast is included, pretty standard continental fair for Switzerland. Rooms are pretty spacious and clean. Only negative for me is that they don't have their own spa.
