A fabulous full day riding through different terrain. Very calm and competent English guide. You need to be a decent rider to last the whole day to keep it enjoyable. Horses well attended to and their comfort was paramount which I applaud. Picnic included all homegrown. Excellent value for money no rip off here!

We deliberately opted for this place for 3 reasons : a. the horse riding ; b. away from the south coast anonymous hotels ; c. value for money : we have stayed for 5 nights and probably saved a thousand euro compared to any other hotel ( with charm ). This place is basic but offers a lot of charm.... More

I'll start with the description and the good bits: This is a home stay. I stayed a week and planned to cook with Frances. he farm itself is peaceful and beautiful, lots of flowers and vegetables growing and the stables are just down the path. Family friendly. I loved the day horse riding. BUT: Had it not been high season,... More

I spent a week at New Forest Lodge learning butchery arts and Portuguese cooking. I was even lucky enough to to fit in a horse ride, some trips to town, and a visit to the beach. I cannot began to explain how wonderful my experience was on the farm. Each day started with a lovely breakfast on the back porch,... More

Nfl is certainly unique,I was mainly interested in the location and the cooking school but before i went i booked some riding lessons at my local centre and arrived with a little bit of experience which helped no end. Firstly its remote so dont expect local bars in the vicinity, its a beautiful farm with stunning views and a family style... More

In my opinion there is nothing better than having a relaxing hack around the beautiful Portugese countryside with phenomenal views over looking the west coast and the much busier area of Lagos. This experience is suitable for anyone, no matter what your level of experience is, me being a fourteen year old I absolutely loved it and I think it's... More

My girlfriend and I visited New Forest Lodge twice; once for an afternoon, the other for a whole day ride down to the beach (and back). On both occasions we were very well looked after, being treated to a pre-ride BBQ lunch on the one day and a picnic on the second. Bear in mind that there is a cookery... More

Stayed at the farm for 3 days as part of an all inclusive stay. The riding, especially along the beach, was good, and the unlimited access to the horses was a major attraction. Would definitely recommend this for anyone looking to ride out alone, spend time with horses, learn more about general horsecare etc. Dinner was also uniformly excellent and... More

My 2 children & I visited in Jul/Aug 2013 & the reason this review is so late is that every time I tried to write it, I couldn't put into words what a great holiday we had here. So I'm going to keep it simple. The accomodation is rustic but very comfortable, the food is excellent, varied, healthy & plentiful... More

As total beginners my girlfriend and I just did an evening "stroll" around the propery (we didn't stay at the lodge). We really enjoyed it. The instructions were excellent and they really take their time to make you feel comfortable with the horses. The only "downside" I can think of is the fact that the property is a bit away... More
