The facility is a bit older, but that doesn't take away from its charm. The service was outstanding, as you would expect at a ryokan. We were greeted when I pulled-up in my car and our every need was attended to from that point onward. Our room on the third floor of the main building had an awesome view overlooking the lake and surrounding wooded area; it really added to the overall experience. The food was fantastic - fresh seafood was the best; excellent sashimi and crab the first night, a different take on the crab with smoked fish and eel the second night. The buffet breakfast is quite well done too with both Japanese and Western offerings. I am very glad the staff alternated the bath locations (male and female) on different days. On the first night the bath was fine (in the annex building), but nothing really exciting - just one big room with a soaking tub in the center.
