We stayed 2 nights and really enjoyed the beautiful location of the hotel. The team was extremely welcoming and helpful. Rooms are spacious, with Japanese style (futon bed on tatami). A nice and peaceful retreat away from the flow of tourists.

I would rate this hotel 3.5, just above average, on the basis of the room comfort (quiet) and the desire to please shown by the staff. The hotel is situated away from the town and therefore you should finish your sightseeing and check in just before dinner (since the hotel is not a pleasure resort). The set course Japanese meals were ample and tasty. As there was only one other couple eating in the same big room as us, it felt a bit lonely. The hotel furnishings are getting tired but the place was clean and efficient. The onsen (bath) was comfortable if unspectacular. Parking is not under cover. I am not sure how much English is spoken but the staff were keen to help and I am sure that a little Japanese would go a long way. More
