We had a week here in January 2017, during which a stunning 3.2 metres of fresh snow fell. The Furuya is the best location in town, with the nearest lift being about 2 mins walk, and 3 gear rental places within a stone's throw. The bus terminal is about 150m away. It has a supermarket 2 doors down. On request...

Great location, awesome rooms and excellent staff. Would recommend. Great ski locker, breakfast buffet pretty good. 8 course dinner was best dinner of trip. Expensive but rooms were spacious and combo of 2 Western beds in 1 room and Japanese mats for one of 2 lounges. 100m walk to lifts.

It had all the traditional amenities of a good ryokan, old world and beautifully maintained, yet modern enough with everything you need for a ski trip. Because we stayed here for almost a week, the simple (and clean) bath halls became a bit boring, as were the delicious but repeated breakfasts. If you are staying long, don't book all your...

Okay so lovely place very japanese feel beautiful western japanese room and lovely onsens. However the hosts and staff went above and beyond and showed incredible kindness and help when I broke my ankle day1 skiing. I didn't go to the hospital (thought it was just a soft tissue injury) but the hosts helped me buy crutches, gave me ice...

We have stayed at the Furuya for 3 years in a row and always look forward to returning to the wonderful service, food, onsen, privacy, respect and gorgeous rooms. Initially we booked into the Western room but have decided that we prefer the traditional Japanese. We always feel so welcome and the owners have gone beyond expectations to help us...

I traveled here with a group of eight friends. It was perfect. Walking distance to the chair lift. Excellent breakfast. Warm onsen - great after a day of snow boarding . The hotel has everything you need for a snow trip. I couldn't recommended them more. I think its one of the nicest hotels in Myoko. Staff were friendly. They...

we stayed at Furuya for 8 nights and loved it. Chose a Japanese room which was quite spacious with a small Japanese style bathroom and the bonus of a separate toilet. Wifi was good and TV had 1 English language channel. The room was warm and quiet at night so we slept well. Asked for an extra futon as found...

My wife and I stayed there mid Jan 2014. We loved staying in the traditional Japanese room, Japanese breakfasts and dinners were outstanding. The Mens and Womens onsens on the top floor were very warm and clean and sitting in the outside onsen with snow falling on you was a great experience. The village is not a huge place. However,...

We stayed here in Feb 2014 in a room on level 3 with our private onsen. The room was Japanese style with tatami but extremely comfortable, warm and well cleaned. The private onsen is fantastic. Indeed we never felt the need for the shared onsen. Highly recommended. Pros - great hospitality from the Japanese owners and the two young foreign...

Great traditional Japanese Hotel. We stayed in a Japanese room with futons but they do have western style rooms. You can get rooms with your own private natural spring onsen as well. Rooms are warm, bright ,clean and quiet. There were two English speaking staff members working there during our stay who were fantastic. The Hotel is situated in the...
