We stayed here after a week in Hakuba, this place does stand out on the mountain with the red roof. From the moment you are picked up from your transfer you are treated like royalty. The hotel has two sections for accommodation, one is the original area of the hotel (fully refurbished though) and the newer area. We stayed in...

Beautiful property with direct access to the slopes. Has a couple of fantastic restaurants - Japanese and French, as well as a cafe. Japanese dinners are particularly good, very well presented kaisekis, and they do a great breakfast, too. Rooms are well appointed, very clean, stayed in the older wing but was fairly envious of the private balcony onsens in...

This is a hotel wrapped in time; it's, I'm sure like it always has been. Elegant, dignified - it all works. Rooms lovely, food amazing, excellent wine list. The lounge and library area dignified and true to its beginning. Fantastic onsen that finishes off a great day skiing perfectly. Everything works. Just love this place.

We stayed for three nights with a group of friends in early Mar 2016 at this hotel. We chose it for its position on the slope and its history and its reputation for having excellent food. Our experiences are mixed. Positives: Ski in-out. Inexpensive lift tickets. Nice intermediate slopes. Not crowded on weekdays. Good sized rooms, but we got the...

We stayed here for four nights in February. We booked somewhat at the last minute so we didn't get a room in the new Annex. Our twin room in the main building was small but serviceable, as are most hotel rooms in Japan. One problem is that the bathroom doesn't have a fan or any venting, and began to develop...

We loved our stay at Akakura Kanko Hotel. It was expensive for us to stay, as we were there during peak time but the location of ski in/out is fantastic. We couldn't fault anything in the hotel- the room, facilities or service from staff. The on site bakery was a nice novelty after a day skiing. If you have the...

Our first hotel outside Tokyo. We booked late so did not have all the selection one might have wanted. we arrived at the train station on an earlier train. We called the hotel as they said they would pick us up. But because we came earlier we should take a taxi 'they were to busy'! The room was modern with...

What a fantastic hotel. Nothing to complain. The staff were wonderful helping in every way, polite, helpful, charming. Food was delicious. Loved the onsen which was so relaxing you didnt need a massage. Book early if you want to stay on a weekend. No need to have a shower in your room as the onsen was perfect. Loved the ski/ski...

This is the second time we have stayed at the Akakura Kanko, both times it has been an absolute pleasure. The staff are brilliant, the hotel imaculate, unpretentious and a true joy to stay in. I can't say enough good things about this hotel. Be warned though, it is expensive. However for the ski in/ski out convenience and the pleasure...

We got there late, arrived at around 8pm, but the restaurant waited us for dinner. The Wagyu Shabu Shabu was delicious, and the room was cozy and nice. They gave us Clarins set for the amenities. The next morning we woke up with this breath taking view from the room, we stayed at the Open-air Onsen room type B, it...
