This is an amazing Pension to stay whilst in Madarao - Takeshi the owner is wonderful. Always helpful with local knowledge and nothing too much bother. He gives you a mobile phone for pick up anywhere in the village. The place is spotlessly clean and the rooms are amazingly comfortable. There is a great bar area to get together after... More

When we first stayed at Fujio Pension 6 years ago, little did we know that it was to be the beginning of many friendships, acquaintances, new skiing companions and happy memories. We usually visit three or four resorts each winter and Fujio is always the highlight. It is without a doubt, our favourite place to stay anywhere in Japan. As... More

We just finished a wonderful week at Fujio Pension, Madarao. Some of the best bits!! # Takeshi & Kimi, the owners, are super friendly, always smiling and happy. I had a scratchy throat and next thing you know, Takeshi brought a pack of throat lozenge to me. # Takeshi is always on standby to drop off or pick up, even... More

Fujio presents immaculately, nestled into a picturesque hillside location. It is downhill from the resort entry, and the walk is not an easy one, but this doesn't matter, because Takeshi will taxi you to resort and restaurants. This service was frankly amazing, meaning that we could get out the door without rushing. Takeshi also sold us discount lift tickets for... More

As I sit here with the snow falling in a comfortable lodge style lounge area, listening to music after having enjoyed a beautifully prepared meal, I can't imagine why you would consider staying anywhere else. We have stayed in big hotels twice on this skiing trip and they just don't compare for personal service. Takeshi goes out of his way... More

Our third stay at Fuji with host Takeshi and his wife Kimmy. We have stayed at so many places in Japan but Fujio is by far the best. The rooms are clean (we get the ensuite), not a bad size, ski room, great lounge area and the food is amazing. Jimmy creates a 5 course meal or the hot pot... More

Fujio Pension in Madarao, Nagano is a wonderful place to stay. The owners, Takeshi and Kimi, are so very warm and treat you like they've known you for years. Kimi's cooking is sublime and you must have her dinners there when staying. The Pension is warm and rooms are a good size, and beds very comfortable.

Stayed at Fujio pension. Very clean and comfortable. Takeshi & Kimi are the owners. Kimi is a fantastic cook and the dinner meals are great value. I found Takeshi helpful, although a little strange aswell. Maybe it was the language barrier. He could be a bit more friendlier. He seemed to give preferential treatment to past guests, instead of giving... More

My husband and I returned this year for a second visit. We booked breakfast a and dinner this year after we saw how amazing the food was last year. It's a couple minutes drive to slopes and main centre, but Takeshi the host will drop you off and pick you up. We were lucky enough to ski back in the... More
