Fujio Pension is an alpine chalet. It is not luxury--toilet and public bath are shared. But it is very comfortable and very good value. There is a comfortable public lounge, where I met Breakfasts were good, but the real treat was dinner. Make sure you get the half pension option. Don't bother eating anywhere else, because this is the best...

We stayed here from 7 to 15 January 2017. This is a fantastic place to stay. Takeshi dropped us at the ticket office for 1st runs and fresh tracks each day and picked us up each afternoon. (He provides a small phone so you can call him - he arrives within minutes). The pension exceeded our expectations and it was...

We loved staying at Fujio Great food, lovely clean pension, loved the cozy bar area. Taki gets out and drives you up and down to the ski base and restaurants etc - gives you a special mobile phone just so you can call him. Whole experience was fantastic - definitely recommended.

Loved staying here. Evening and breakfast meals great. Rooms good. Taki was great at looking after all our needs. He drove us to and from Madarao ski area each day and connected us with his son who was great ski guide for 3 dads. Madarao ski area was good for 2 or 3 days at most

Fantastic pension to base yourself at for Madapow! Our family of six adults and a toddler had an extremely comfortable stay with Taki and his family. Extremely hospitable, delicious meals, great restaurant recommendations, hot Onsen etc etc. We will be back for sure!

Our 3 night stay at Fujio was a highlight of our Japanese ski time. Taki is an outstanding, convivial host and his pension is a charming, comfortable home away from home. Our decision to eat in every night was spot on. The food is made with care and love- sourced locally where possible and served up while you sit and...

We had a family party of 13 plus 1 baby and spent 6 glorious nights with Take and Kimi at Fujio Pension in Madarao. This was the highlight of our Japanese holiday. Kimi is the most amazing chef - every night was a superb banquet of mainly traditional Japanese food but entirely suitable for western tastes. Lots of fresh vegetables,...

This is an amazing Pension to stay whilst in Madarao - Takeshi the owner is wonderful. Always helpful with local knowledge and nothing too much bother. He gives you a mobile phone for pick up anywhere in the village. The place is spotlessly clean and the rooms are amazingly comfortable. There is a great bar area to get together after...

When we first stayed at Fujio Pension 6 years ago, little did we know that it was to be the beginning of many friendships, acquaintances, new skiing companions and happy memories. We usually visit three or four resorts each winter and Fujio is always the highlight. It is without a doubt, our favourite place to stay anywhere in Japan. As...
