The hotel is on the lake front only half a mile from the Chuo line station. We had a large room with lovely wooden onsen bath looking out across the lake, two conventional double beds and plenty of tatami mat space if you prefer to sleep on the floor. Other guests seemed to be 100% Japanese. Hotel not aiming for...

I lodged here on Nov 2015. The interior of the hotel is good, and the access to the location is not hard to find. We also got free dinner and breakfast and it was tasted so good. The hotel also serves the onsen, there are private onsen and public onsen, you are freely to choose which is best for you....

We arrived at the onsen later than planned (if you read my other reviews, you will see this is not an uncommon occurrence for us) and were met in the parking lot by two smiling men wearing white gloves and what looked like tuxedos who bowed and smiled and greeted me by name, directed me into a parking space, hoisted...

We had not planned to stay at Shinyu, however as we were driving by around 5:00 p.m., we noticed a small board out front offering rooms for the night. It was the first time, we hadn't made a reservation for a place to stay and thought it might only be offering the worst room or most expensive room. We were...

We will not planned to visit Lake Suwa during our trip at first but luckily we were here finally. It's a beautiful and relaxing hotel, staff are polite and helpful, always with smile and wave farewell sincerely when guests are leaving. Dinner & breakfast are good (but too much food indeed), Lake Suwa area is very relaxing but no night...

Thank you very much for staying at Shinyu. It is very grateful that you enjoyed your stay. It is true that we don't have much city life here especially at night time as you said; however, your are able to spend your time with walking along Lake Suwa with beautiful sunset view. For your further information, you have a chance...

Just refurbished in 2011, everything is new and clean. Japanese tatami rooms are clean and very relaxing. Excellent service & excellent food. Desert buffet after dinner is also very inviting. The ryokan also has a relatively spacious onsen bath. We visited for the famous firework night and the price was umbelievably high (more than five times as usual). That's why...

I appreciate that you had chosen to stay at Shinyu. That is very good news that you felt comfortable which our room, food, and hot spring bath. Not only that day the fireworks are held, but fireworks will set off every single day in August. It is our pleasure that you will enjoy staying in Suwa some other time.

Overall the hotel is good, my only complaints are that we had a room with no view, kind of isolated from the rest of the hotel(maybe bc we were travelling with a 22 month old baby) and the meals were very tiny. The neat part was the public onsen, free evening dessert selection and the restaurant had designated 'rooms' for...

I am so sorry that we didn’t provide you a nice-viewed room. As a matter of fact, you can choose types of your room depending on its price setting. I hope I would be able to give you that price information next time. Thank you very much for visiting us, and we look forward to seeing you again.
