We were given a night at Kogure by some Japanese friends as a Wedding present so I can't comment on price but if you are looking to splurge on an Onsen experience I would highly recommend Kogure.

Bedding was Tatami style so if you're not used to that I think they offer Western Style rooms but you would be loosing a lot of the experience.
The Onsen facilities at this hotel are great - big range of different baths both indoor & outdoor that never felt too busy. Very clean & big changing/shower areas. They also switch each morning between the male & female so if you stay overnight you get to experience all the different baths.

This huge hotel is one of the oldest in Idaho Area. It is a few minutes away from the Stone Stair. The onsen is amazingly huge and change sides for women and men. The dinner is great with abalone and Japanese beef Shabushabu with individual eating area. I spent 12600 yen per person and it worth. The Tempura during breakfast was very delicious too. More
