Certificate of Excellence
The 4 star Krystal Beach Hotel is situated on the waterfront of the paradisiacal Harbour Island peninsula, nestled along the Western Cape shores of Gordon's Bay. The Krystal is a gem, exuding a quiet sophistication without any trace of snobbishness, in harmony with tranquil décor conducive to relaxation, and all our rooms have truly spectacular views. We really do offer unrivalled value for money, and our staff love to please, not merely because it is our job to do so, but because it is our calling. Cape Town International Airport is only 40 km and 35 minutes’ drive from the Krystal Beach. We are only 1.5 km from Gordon's Bay Village and the walk there is usually a highlight for our guests. Bikini Beach (Blue Flag) is only 2.7 km from the Krystal Hotel. The Strand, with its magnificent beaches (Blue Flag) is virtually on our doorstep, Somerset West about 5 minutes, Stellenbosch about 15 Minutes, Hermanus about 45 minutes, and Cape Town about 40 minutes. The Krystal Beach is at the start of both the Wine & Whale Routes. The safety of our guests is of paramount important to us, and our security team remains ever vigilant, highly motivated, and absolutely professional. Our numerous internal and external CCTV surveillance cameras further monitor people traffic 24/7 for absolutely peace of mind.

I always double check when getting a special online, that what it says I will be getting is indeed so. I called the hotel 2 times to double check that the hotel room had a sea/marina view, of which they ensured it was. On arrival, I was given a room - NOT SEA OR MARINA VIEW.

Thank you for your review. When you make an online booking through an OTA the Hotel will NOT confirm what view your room will have. OTA specials very often do not include breakfast or other value sells beneficial to the hotel. The Krystal Beach reserves the right to extend such benefits as booking rooms with views to its clients who also purchase other products. Next time book directly with the hotel to achieve all your objectives and save money. Kind regards,

Thank you so much for your wonderful praise. We strive for perfection at all times, not only because our livelihoods depend upon our commitment to service excellence, but also because we are proud and passionate about our many accomplishments and great reputation. We are proud of our rooms. Best of all our rooms are most affordable, and this value-add benefit is arguably unrivalled within the Cape hospitality arena, which makes staying at the Krystal a must. Our suites, and indeed all our rooms, are widely acclaimed for their spaciousness, peaceful ambience, magnificent sea and mountain views on both sides of the hotel, having either a balcony or a terrace, and with all the mod cons any discerning traveller would expect from a five-star hotel. The beverage stations with refrigerators and Nespresso coffee machines (in our suites) are much appreciated. If one requires a room conducive to utter relaxation, with absolutely awesome views, one cannot do better than stay at the Krystal Beach. Kind regards,

Krystal Beach Hotel in Gordon's Bay is a really unique place. Very few hotels in the Cape are right on the beach. This one is. One side of the hotel faces the sea and marina, and the other side a lagoon. Swimming is on the lagoon side. The newly renovated hotel is sparkly clean.

Thank you so much for your amazing review. We could not have written a self-recommendation letter better than you have done. For this we are most appreciative. We will very definitely look into installing shower doors in the Duplex Rooms. However, this consideration will have to be polled throughout the wider community. So many people prefer doorless showers... And there is so much to see and do around the Krystal Beach. Consider the following highlights: 1. Swim, tan, picnic and chill on our pristine Bikini, Strand, and numerous other coastal drive beaches. About Strand Beach; with its five-kilometre-long stretch of white sand, Strand Beach is a perfect family beach for swimming, sunbathing and a variety of marine sports. There’s even a tidal pool for anyone who is not brave enough to plunge into the mellow surf. There are a number of surf spots to suit every level of surfer. Bikini Beach is one of Cape Town's six Blue Flag Beaches. Bikini Beach is an excellent swimming beach as the water is usually warm, calm and clear. Named after the numerous bikini-clad Stellies students (Stellenbosch University) who are regulars, this intimate little beach has its own particular charm. Surrounded by the craggy Hottentot's Holland mountain range on one side and the harbour breakwater on the other, Bikini Beach is a good option when the wind is howling. 2. Enjoy wine tasting and dining at ± 30 award-winning and historic Somerset West wine estates. Enjoy the adjacent Stellenbosch and Elgin Wine routes. 3. Visit the KogelBerg Reserve and the Harold Porter Botanical gardens. 4. During the Cape Winter season (especially June to October), view Whales & Dolphins in False Bay and along the coastline to nearby Hermanus, acclaimed the world’s best land-based whale watching resort town. 5. Try your hand at fishing or boating. 6. Enjoy the magnificent Clarence Mountain Drive past picturesque coastal holiday and fishing villages, commencing 15 minutes’ drive time from the Krystal Beach. 7. Visit Penguin Nature Reserve at Stony Point. 8. Visit the Elgin Valley and Bot River areas: view vineyards, apple and pear orchards and beautiful mountains. This self-drive route offers spectacular photographic opportunities. 9. Lonely Planet recently listed Cape Canopy Tour (located in the Elgin Valley near Grabouw, only 15 minutes from the Krystal Beach Hotel), and scale the rugged Hottentots Holland Mountains in the Cape Nature reserve of the same name. Lonely Planet has described it as “vertigo-tinged fun and an exciting aerial perspective.” Do so in the company of soaring eagles, surrounded by breath-taking Cape Fynbos panoramas and mountain-scape. 10. Play Golf at any one of several excellent courses, all within easy reach of the Krystal Beach. 11. Take a quick drive to Cape Town: home to the V & A Waterfront, Robben Island Tours, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, and Table Mountain’s Cable Car. 12. The Cheetah Outreach Research Station. 13. Monkey Town (the world of monkeys and primates). 14. Journey’s End Wine Estate has situated on the slopes of the Schapenberg boasting sweeping views of False Bay. The farm has been upgraded to a state-of-the-art boutique winery that consistently wins top awards. Along with producing exceptional wines, Journeys End has initiated remarkable programs to preserve the region's biodiversity and to uplift the local community. A wonderful way to explore the beautiful surroundings is on horseback through the vineyards. 15. Off Sir Lowry’s Pass Road is the magnificent restaurant and wine farm of Waterkloof. The restaurant and tasting area are architectural masterpieces designed to showcase the gorgeous views from every aspect. The estate is committed to biodynamic farming principles and in partnership with Onderkloof and Journey’s End estates; it offers Walks for Wine, a hiking trail with tastings. Proceeds from the walks go towards conserving biodiversity and preserving the rich fynbos heritage. The estate’s European style wines can be sampled in the restaurants stylish tasting lounge. 16. Onderkloof Estate wines are produced from grapes grown in the cooler Walker Bay regions, an area known for some of the best Sauvignon Blanc in South Africa. The farm is perched on the slopes of Schapenberg with stunning views of False Bay as far as Cape Point. A former old stable is now the atmospheric tasting room and is warm and welcoming, as is the winemaker, Danie Truter. His wines are lovingly crafted in limited quantities. 17. About Crystal Springs Hike: this easy hike is a delightful adventure in a beautiful nature reserve. Follow the stream in the kloof (gully) between the mountains, past many crystal-clear pools. Stop along the way to enjoy indigenous fynbos, to swim or bathe the sunshine on the rocks. Stop and turn back when you feel you have gone far enough - each spot along the way is beautiful enough to be the destination. You will feel spiritually refreshed. 18. About Blue Rock Cable Water ski: an exciting and thrilling water activity awaits you at Blue Rock Lake. For a wild cable ski adventure, you won't have to travel far if you're in Cape Town. Blue Rock uses an overhead cable system with an electric motor which pulls users around the lake. This system is completely user-friendly and safe, as the water skiing is in a controlled area in addition to buoys and floating walkways which also separate activities. Skilled water ski instructors are always in attendance. The resort also offers diving facilities, volleyball, swimming, rock jumping and a kid’s playground. Kind regards,

Pure unadulterated balderdash of the highest order. Sorry I cannot be polite. Dear readers, please examine the overall analytics of the Krystal Beach Hotel, and you will that this review differs immeasurably from all the other great and wonderful words of praise received by myriad guests. Frankly, after speaking with all staff concerned, the unanimous opinion was that we would not wish to welcome you back to the Krystal Beach hotel again. You mention you travel 10+ times per year. Believe me, it is standard practice to have a credit facility prior to ordering room service and a plethora of other services and products. Let us agree to disagree. Kind regards,
