We stayed overnight in this sleepy little town at this Ryokan. The Ryokan is by the bay with a wonderful view of Mt. Fuji (if you're lucky to get one of the front rooms). We were lucky enough to get the 2nd floor room on the north side of the house. It was good and spacious. The toilet is indoor but the shower and tub were on the balcony (outdoors). Now, that could be a turn-off for some, but I found it to be absolutely romantic. I got up at 7am the next day, got in the tub, and just stared at Mt. Fuji. It was perfect. Note, however, that if you're standing on the balcony, you could be seen (naked) from the street and from distant buildings. The Ryokan has a restaurant, a lounge, bathhouse (traditional communal hot-spring baths where you soak naked -- men are separate from women). We paid $150 per person and that included a traditional dinner and breakfast. The food was very good. It's 10,000 flavors in every meal! But if you're coming from the U.S./Canada and will not eat fish for breakfast, you should just not stay in a Ryokan. There is no wifi. …
