My wife and I have recently returned from a five night stay at this delightful hotel. We have visited the area many times over the years, but this was the first time at this hotel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and most could speak good English, which is always a great help with our limited German. All...

Room was large and we had a balcony which was excellent to enjoy the lovely weather the day we arrived,. This was our third hotel as part of our walking holiday and is larger than the previous two. Evening meal was good traditional fare and breakfast was plentiful. Kirchzarten itself was lovely and easy links to Freiburg.

We booked the Junior Suite for four nights. It's a lovely, spacious room but faces the road at the front of the hotel, above the outside eating area. The double glazing in the room is very good but unfortunately windows had to be left open as it was so warm. Consequently, not a lot of sleep!! Even when temperatures fell...

The Sonne is a Hotel in the more traditional style, very relaxed and welcoming. Large rooms with lovely bathrooms. Each room takes on a different style. The food served up is from a menu which uses a lot of local produce and is extremely tasty.

My partner and I stayed at the Sonne and found the entire experience exceptional. Our room was clean, bright and very comfortable and I loved the interior design. A mix of traditional motifs blended with what can best be described as 'Blackforest Cool'. I have travelled extensively through Germany and found the food in the hotel some of the best...

I travelled to Kirchzarten for Kinesiology reasons and stayed at Hotel Sonne. It is excellently positioned right in the centre. Looks like a Black Forest hotel. The breakfast is wonderful and the restaurant in general is superior. I was a solo traveller and they were almost booked out. Whilst the room was fairly small the appointments were very good with...

We had originally booked a small double which the owner suggested we upgrade as it was very small. The upgrade was worth every euro; large, sunny and very comfortable although without a balcony. The restaurant was excellent value and we ate breakfast every morning which is a traditional continental one with a god range of fruits, cold meats, cheeses, breads...

Stayed only for a night.. But, a lot of hair found on the beds, bathroom and toilette. Food at the restaurant very good with the appropriate positive service experience. Continental Breakfast very basic, buffet wasn't filled as fast as the food was running out, a pity as i assume they know when the hotel is full. Especially on sundays were...

First things first: There is NO aircon. If you come in Summer, be aware that it may get VERY, very hot, and you'll have to put up with it. We found it hard to sleep. A very good feature is that you get a free card for public transport with your room rate. There is a spa next door, but...

“Ask fo comfort rooms, they are big and nice. Avoid the front rooms of the hotel as it is allways full of guest who are coming for a drink Back rooms are away from the noise I think there is no A/C in most of the rooms or may be all of them The front rooms also are full of sun,so in summer, take the one on the back,it is cold.”
