Arriving late afternoon at the end of a hectic day and a three hour drive, the Reception was busy with wedding guests checking in so we popped into the bar for a pint and a bite to eat. Beer and food were good, if not exceptional. The pub side of the business seems quite well organised and the staff helpful.... More

Stayed here 5 nights for business, won't be back unfortunately if I can avoid it. Shame as could have been a great place. Nice looking building and grounds, gym etc. Very dated rooms, up on the top floor in the roof space - steer clear on a hot night. No sleep due to noise and temperature with window open. No... More

On paper, the room seemed large enough for a solo traveller with adequate space for myself to relax on an evening after a day of climbing in the Peak District as I had booked the ‘twin’ bed. It goes without saying that I expected more than the single bedded tiny, dark, box room in which I was placed. There was... More

I needed to stop off on way south on M1 and this hotel was on special offer at £35 for a single. If I'd paid much more I'd be more critical, but it did the job perfectly. The receptionist was v friendly and helpful when my satnav took me to the wrong place about a mile or so away (apparently... More

Called for a late pre-booked Father's Day lunch (2.30pm sitting). The service was good, and the food is always passable - never great, but always somewhere between good & okay. There were six of us (two kids, four adults) and all enjoyed it. The only issue was we were given a table right next to the entertainment - a lovely... More

Visited the Sitwell arms with friends for an evening meal.We didn't have to book for a table at 7 o'clock, and the dining area was not busy.Overall, the quality of the food could only be classed as average.Following a longer than expected wait for our food to arrive at our table, the food was hot,but basic pub food was the general consensus on... Stayed for one night with my husband. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms were a little dated but very clean and spacious. All of the staff were amazing, they could not do enough for you. Definitely worth the price and would definitely recommend!

Had an emergency so had to find accommodation last minute for myself and my dad. The accommodation was spot on for the price and the staff are wonderful! Very welcoming and could not help enough, very nice to actually have a helpful night porter with a good sense of humor as well for a change! Breakfast brilliant, could not fault... More

The original building, now the pub is lovely, friendly Yorkshire folk, some of the younger staff would benefit from a kick up the customer services, but that's not unusual these days.! The hotel ( Annexe ) is in need of a serious update, still in the 70's somewhere. No remote in the room and the telly was as far away... More

My wife and I were looking for a hotel close to Sheffield where we had booked to see the excellent trilogy of The James Plays at The Lyceum. We came across this hotel which lived up to our expectations. It was extremely handy for our purposes, well-appointed, easy access for parking, good-sized bedroom with tea and coffee facilities and an... More
