I am a member of a longstanding large group of guys that have been golfing annually at the Nest for years and years. We were staying at the resort when times were lean and the amenities were not as nearly nice as they are today. We would reserve our three day weekend for each year before we left the property every year. Many of us would come up and rent an additional night so we were on property sooner. Several years ago we started to run into problems that the reservation was lost so we had to stay off premises and golf at the course during the day. This went on for a few years and we worked with management in spite of the inconvenience. This year was the final straw when we were told we really were not welcome to stay on the resort but could golf on it. The most alluring part of stay and play is not having to leave the location. Trust me if we were a group of rowdy guys that did damage to the property or were disruptive to guests I could understand. Many of us are in our 50's and 60's and are in bed by 10pm. Unfortunately it appears we have been replaced by smaller groups and weddings. In the big scheme of things I can appreciate a change in business direction but for three years to be lied too and played around with at the last minute which wasn't fair or professional. I would typically bring my wife in the fall to stay in the Nanos for a couple nights and have a quiet weekend just the two of us. I can no longer support the resort after being treated so unfairly after so many loyal years. I hope for the sake of the resort the times stay strong because when you turn your cheek on loyal customers during the good times they won't be there to support you in the bad times.

Our group has been faithfully coming to the Nest for over 15 years and since the new ownership at the Nest wants nothing to do with golf groups. Our group books the same weekend a year (July) in advance and we were told in April they didn't have enough rooms for us. Too many weddings have been booked, we where told. This is the 2nd year in a row this has happened. Lat year they put us in the Best Western. So if you have booked a wedding and a bigger and better one comes along, don't be surprised if you end up at the Best Western.

For last 31 years our group of 70+ golfers have gone to the Nest dozens of times (5 out of the last 7 years because they were changing ownership land we had to go to other places). Every year we would have 3 great nights and 3 rounds of golf but things started changing the last 2 years and they made it clear they do not want the golfers there. July 2021 they overbooked the resort and our group was forced to stay in the crappy Best Western, and this year they basically told us to pound sand. They just want to be about weddings so they can charge 4x more. Our group brought them in at least $60k every July during those lean years and all the construction and this is how they show their appreciation buy telling us to go elsewhere. Will go back when the change ownership again.

I've lived 35 minutes from this golf course and have never played it. Today was my day, with bright sunshine and 70 degree early fall weather. This course is challenging, well maintained and fun. I walked the course but don't recommend that with high elevations as you climb the side of a mountain. The course reminds me of the Donald Ross designed Balsam's in Northern NH. I loved the design, which I understand is Jack Nicklaus, but probably a re-design. This is a well-managed business with efficient pro-shop professionals, starters and rangers who actually care about pace of play. I hate playing courses where the pace of play is not enforced. Spectacular views on the back nine, which are much better than the front nine. I shot a 90 which is accurate for my handicap. It had rained hard the day before and the greens were soft, which helped. I would imagine with wind and dry greens this course will play harder. Lots of trouble everywhere. You need to be accurate because there are lots of OB white stakes and red stake hazards. No water but lots of bunkers. Greens run true. The course is kind of schizophrenic, with deep woods holes and suddenly you are in a resort development with a hundreds of homes. Bottom line is that this is one of the best courses in NH and a must play.

My wife and I had a great experience at Owl’s Nest. We stayed in a “Nano,” a small one bedroom tiny house, which was perfect for two nights. We had two lessons a day, with the pro, Carter White, who might be the best coach my wife and I have worked with in any sport. He is a great, and patient, teacher. We also had a lunch and two dinners at the Panorama restaurant, which was also very good. Overall a great two day visit. Highly recommended for beginner golfers!

We played on a warm early fall afternoon with friends. The course is immaculate, the staff friendly and helpful, the clubhouse restaurant was welcoming and the food was very good. Hint: this is a challenging golf course...choose a tee commensurate with your level of play. I’m a 19 plus handicap and found the yellow tees to be right for me. Ask the staff if you have questions. Very knowledgeable. Hint: the golf course restaurant was set with beautiful Mountain View’s, drinks were generous, service excellent. Try the smoked scallop chowder...WOW! Prices moderate. Sunset views toward the end of the day. On other occasions, we’ve stayed in rental units which were very nice.

We were a large group of nearly 50 people in the restaurant and could have overwhelmed the kitchen and the wait staff who responded very well. Hors d'oevres were plentiful and delicious. The staff broke the group into sections to keep order in the kitchen and get guests served effectively. And the chef and kitchen crew turned out well-prepared meals we agreed were done perfectly despite the numbers wanting to be fed in a relatively short time. The "Nest" sits at the top of the ridge with windows facing west to the setting sun. Parking is easy just steps from the entrance.

Beautiful and difficult course with wonderful views of the White Mountains. Staff say it's the best public course in the area. They also rent cute little houses for golf vacationers within walking distance to the golf course.

I have played "The Nest" since it first opened more than 10 years ago. We played a round yesterday and once again the course was in terrific shape. Never any complaints on that front. However a few observations since the new ownership came in a couple of years ago, and started building "stay and play" housing among other improvements. When we arrived at about 9:00 AM we headed to the pro shop to pay our green fee. The young man working at the time was less than cordial. No pleasant greeting, just a matter of fact process of processing our payments and sending us on our way. We are all seniors, and I asked if there was any discount from the lofty weekday fee of $81.00 (includes cart), and we were told there is no senior discount. I would have to guess that 90% + of the courses today offer some type of senior discount for Monday-Thursday play. Very disappointing that Owls Nest has not seen fit to offer some type of a break for senior players.
