This hotel is a good jump off point for trekking especially if you are heading to Inle Lake. there is nothing to do here and it is a long walk to the town if you want to do that. The hotel seems to be a converted colonial house. The sound proofing is poor and you can hear guests in the...

Amara Mountain Resort is a nice hotel in a sleepy mountain town that probably hasn't changed since the Raj. When you're travelling around equatorial Asia, this is an nice break in your trip, and the caring staff is there to make your stay enjoyable. Nice people, nice experience.

The rooms are generous in proportions and clean and full of character, housekeeping go to a lot of effort with folded towels and flowers etc. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had dinner and breakfast, both were nice but no more than that. We had two rooms, one had a mains shower, which worked well and the other...

The hotel is towards the top of the hill 20 minutes walk from Kalaw. Around the hotel are other almost Tudor style, were told hill station style, buildings. We were greeted with fresh passion fruit juice, easily the best juice of the trip, and a warm cloth to wipe away the journey. The staff were attentive helping us with our...

Very nicely expanded old colonial house high up in the Kalaw hills: the temperatures are so pleasant that the lack of aircon does not bite. The grounds are splendid and well maintained, lovely garden to relax in. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Bikes are on offer to explore greater Kalaw. Breakfast very nice although the expression coffee, which is...

This resort is a collection of separate colonial manors at the top of the hill outside Kalaw set amongst an extensive and very well maintained old English garden. These buildings contain a number of guest rooms, some upstairs. The stairs are wooden and creak loudly, similarly the floors of the upstairs rooms, but with so few guests this didn't present...

Dear KaiTor, Thank you very much for staying with us at Amara Moutain Resort as well as for taking the time to review our resort. The main building of the resort was built in 1909 and we are trying to maintain it with modern standards but the stairs and floors are original and it is true that they can creak...

We stayed two nights in this boutique hotel which is partly a restored colonial residence and partly a convincing modern fake. Our bedroom was clean and comfortable and we enjoyed the end of Empire feel of the place. We were served a delicious breakfast in the English style rose garden. Since we did not feel like walking into town, we...

We enjoyed our stay here. It was a welcome break from the heat of Yangon, Bagan and Mandalay. There is no air conditioning but even in late April the rooms were comfortable at night. Our bathroom just had a shower and while the room wasn't luxurious it had a certain charm about it. The gardens are very pleasant and we...

Lovely colonial buildings atop a hill. Our room was large and was not cold (although we were there in April when it is quite hot). Breakfast was good (cereals, croissants, breads, eggs). We didnt eat here, there isnt anywhere nearby to eat but we ate in town before returning to the hotel. There was some sort of celebration going on...
