I stayed at Sala for two nights. I booked the French residency which is absolutely amazing. It was a hospital during the French colony. Beautiful, huge and clean room. Very nice owner as well. The island is fantastic, no need to say. The only very weak point is the restaurant. AVOID! Bad food, rude people (I live in Laos and... More

The room was huge and dark but had some lovely floor tiles, indicating an interesting past. Initial impression was of a room that had seen better days and was rather tired - but it was comfortable enough, although the shower was poor. We slept well until the cacophony from cockerels and the hotel monkey woke us at some unearthly hour.... More

We came to Don Khone for the last three days of our 3 week holiday for a bit of a chill. We arrived at the Sala the morning after a massive storm which had knocked out all the electrics, but hey it's Laos and it's the monsoon season. My wife and I stayed in a floating studio which was such... More

Stayed in the French Suite for 3 nights and we were very comforatble, with the cooling tiles on the floor, reasonably comfortable king bed, good AC and fan (if a bit noisy) and clean bathroom with hot water, if below normal water pressure. Also the only place we stayed that had netting on the 4 poster beds. It was a... More

Well we had a floating room, number 5, and while it was slightly worn, we loved it! Laying in bed looking t the view, or sitting on the veranda inches from the water watching the world go by. It was hard to get up and go and see the iChat's, after all we had em out he door. Staff were... More

As others have said, its at the mid-end of the market of hotels/gh's in the 4000 islands but this is a pefectly adequate place to stay and relax. I was in one of the balcony rooms - spacious and clean, ok bathroom. Aircon was a pretty old floor unit but it worked fine. A pool is now attached to the... More

The hotel to be frank is at the lower end of the market but that really doesn't matter. What matters is the unbelievable location that it is situated. We stayed in one of the floating rooms which we were told may soon go as the government want to move all structures 8 metres in land. This will be a shame... More

A very special way to relax and experience the Mekong River is living on a riverboat! The sunset her was just really spectacular! The room was simple, but there was everything you need and really clean! Yes, it was a very pleasant peaceful private place to stay!

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights after a bad experience at another GH in Champasak (Anouxa). Thankfully, it was a good move. This one is new and offers great service. We liked the restaurant right on the mekong that served authentic lao food. We stayed in the French suite and opted for the stay 3, pay 2... More

This property is the best in the town of Don Khone. The room categories include, cottages, french suites, french studio and floating rooms all NOW with air conditioning. The "street" level rooms offer cottages that are the lowest priced category of room, there are also 4 floating rooms that are all attached and you can hear through the walls I... More
