Be careful how and when you are going to pay... Charges may change by day, according to the mood of the managment, even if there is a verbal agreement when you first arrive... Terrible service at the restaurant, please allow for half an hour before you order a cup of coffee! Things are a little worse when it comes to... More

I have consistently stayed at Siaya Guest House despite their poor or complete lack of customer service and poorly or untrained staff because Kakamega has surprisingly few decent hotels. I checked in on the 26th and on 27th Morning my lady cousin came to see me and I asked her to come up the room as I was getting ready... More

Stayed five nights at the Siaya Guest House. Room was adequate (even had extra toothbrush), although shower was a little moldy. Breakfast (included) was very good, with juices, traditional Kenyan food, and omelettes cooked to order. Easy to find (on the main street through town), but quiet. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Affordable (about half the price or less... More

I stayed at the Siaya Guest house in June 2014. The room was satisfactory and kept clean during my stay. The restaurant was a little dark and characterless, but the staff were friendly and cooked good portions of food off the menu. Breakfast was cooked as requested. I found the staff adequate.

The staff was good the first time I came: helpful and professional. But the second time around, I found two men who didn't even bother to bring me a menu or take my order. On the plus side, they place is clean, the food ok and the Wi-Fi is fast. This place is in urgent and dire need of professional... More

Kakamega doesn't seem to have decent places to stay. This probably ranks as one of the better places in town. I arrived in the evening and after explaining the rates to me, the receptionist handed me the room key...and that was it. No help with directions to the room, no help with luggage, no enjoy your stay. Receptionist speaks to... More

One of the better places in Kakamega, rooms are small but clean with comfortable beds. Has been improving over time. Ample parking, good food and service. Great location next to the major highway and walking distance to town. WiFi available but couldn't get the correct password.

Our room was entered with a key and everything of value was taken.. We were promised that if we filed a police report, our things would be recovered of reimbursed. Well, they refused to do this and all of the owners/managers seem to be dishonest and liars. Also, at times, there was no water.

Having been living in the village for several weeks it was a great pleasure to find such a lovely, friendly hotel with a hot 'western' shower and a flushing 'western' loo. The room had a lovely balcony and colour tv, the first to be watched in ages. The staff, particularly the reception and kitchen/restaurant staff, were so friendly and accommodative... More

Not many places to stay in this part of Kenya; however Siaya exceeded expectations. It is comfortable, the rooms are clean and the furniture old but functional. I had a superior room with an en-suite shower which worked most of the time. Serviced every day with change of sheets etc if you left your key! I was advised to keep... More
