Recently we attended Cafe Chez Sam following our whale watching trip. We had time to spend before we went horseback riding. The staff at the cafe were friendly, eccentric, their energy was contagious and the ambiance was very familiar. It brought me back to visiting my grandparents with the antique furniture and very used (and clean) atmosphere. We ordered a... More

Inexpensive hotel. Interesting place. A lot of noise until 10:30 and then quiet. Had a good sleep. Breakfast was a lot of things set out in the kitchen, like Harvest Crunch Cereal, bread. Milk and jam were in the fridge. Not great. Felt like a hostel. Good food the night before: bison curry.

This was a 1 night stay on our way to a whale watching excursion. The place is eclectic with a lot of character. Owners are very nice and social. It's more of a hostel feel than B&B; compact and clean, with oddities such a toilet bowl in the corner of your room (we lucked out and had an actual tiny... More

We have been desperately looking for a free room in the surrounding and finally landed chez Sam late in the evening, with only beds left in the bigger dormitory. We were do happy to have dinner served despite late hours! Fabulous local cuisine! The dormitory is very simple and could deserve some improvement such a ladder to climb on the... More

Friendly staff and the building itself is rustic and beautiful but few comforts for a family with young children. While our room had enough sleeping for a family of 4, it fell short on a few other conveniences for a young family: a very small bathroom with only a small stand-up shower, limited power outlets and limited menu. It's in... More

We loved our stay in Café chez Sam. The location, in a calm street, 100m away of the highway is excellent. The view on the river is extremly beautiful! You can spot whales from here. The staff was very kind, helpfull and they really make you feel at home. The rooms are a bit small, but it makes it really... More

Great little place just a couple of minute drive from the whale watching depot. Owners and staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. I would return there in a minute. We arrived rather late, but staff was willing to prepare dinner from the regular menu. While waiting for a table, we were able to order a bottle of wine to sip... More

Just off a 3-hour zodiac whale watching cruise we went in search for a quick bite. I remembered Trip Advisor had high ratings for Chez Sam so we headed there. Little did we know we wouldn't want to leave! The ambience, the fresh-picked home-grown and home-made foods, the eclectic feel of the whole inn, and the warmth of the hosts,... More

Chez Sam looks a bit touristy from the outside, with christmas lights and all, but behind that cheapish facade a fine restaurant is hidden! Pleasant atmosphere, and some really good home style cooking. Try the cassoulet, with wapiti and bison sausages. It's great! We had a nice (belgian) waiter as well. Alors, well recommended,

We recently (July/14) at Chez Sam and were rewarded with a great experience. We were in the area for whale-watching, just like everybody else. Chez Sam was a better option for us than staying in one of the many Tadoussac hotels across the river that cater to the whale-watching tourists. The home-cooked meals by Sonia were very tasty (note: limited... More
