El Palmar is so well tended and comfortable - everyone feels like family there. The tennis is a big draw for us, but we'd go even if we weren't playing tennis. The rooms are arranged to open out onto either the ground floor patio or on the upper floors onto deck and walkways overlooking the pool, patio and the ocean... More

Spent my 60th Birthday with friends at El Palmar. Two other couples came along for the fun...( not tennis players- there is something for everyone)..I spent my Birthday on the Clay. Nice way to turn 60...We have stayed with our hosts John and his wife, Dr. Rosa two years ago. The potluck turned into my party. Got the best cake-... More

Everything in my previous review in 2011 holds true, this is still our favorite winter get-away. What keeps us returning to El Palmar is the feeling of coming home. The hotel is small enough that there are always returning guests that you know from previous visits waiting to greet you, often with a margarita. Or if John the owner happens... More

We were hesitant about traveling in Mexico. We were warned not to drive at night, and we conjured up the worst. Driving at night did prove to be a challenge, but not because of bandits and desperados, but because of children on bikes and difficult to see Street signs. We flew into Puerta Villarta, rented a car, and enjoyed the... More

We had a great room on the top floor - 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, with a view of the Pacific Ocean. Super!!! Each morning we were whisked away with other tennis people to a private tennis club located about 15 miles away or so. It was great fun to meet other people who enjoy tennis. We also enjoyed the Wednesday... More

The owners and staff somehow have managed to create a wonderful, friendly, and comfortable environment to use as a base for all things Melaque. We are not tennis players, but no one cared. The location is a block from beach, easily seen from either your own balcony (second floor rooms) or common ones. The pool is delightful. Fellow guests respectful... More

We've been coming to El Palmar for many years now and it never disappoints. All units on 1st and 2nd floors have kitchen facilities, en suite baths while the 3rd floor has 4 fully equipped apartments. There is a nice pool, and an outdoor patio grill for use by guests. Cleaning service is daily except for Sundays and fresh-baked local... More

El Palmar is conveniently situated close by the beach and a number of restaurant/bars. Our suite (#10) had a terrific view of the beach and the sunset and its placement allowed a cooling breeze through the rooms. There is a clean, quiet outdoor pool available along with a smaller wading pool. The staff are friendly and efficient and a wonderful... More

We stayed for the first time at El Palmar for January and February and it was fantastic. It is very peaceful and quiet in the charming village of Melaque. The top floor rooms have fantastic views and are very spacious, although the second floor rooms are all nice too. Katharine, Leo and Gladys took great care of us... all in... More
