The Westin Reserva Conchal is celebrated for its vibrant atmosphere and prime beachfront location, offering a mix of nightly entertainment and family-friendly activities. While some guests find the décor a touch outdated, the spacious and comfortable rooms, along with the resort's beautiful pool and variety of dining options, often receive high marks. Though opinions on value differ due to additional costs for certain services, the inclusive activities and excursions add to its appeal. Service is generally well-regarded, with the staff's friendliness standing out, and the overall cleanliness of the resort is consistently praised.

Recently stayed for 7 nights in a club level room. The property is beautiful and very very well maintained. Pools were almost spotless and staff were constantly cleaning them through the day. We definitely preferred the pool area at the club and spent little time at the main pool. The beach is nice although we didn’t spend much time there.

Our room was very nice and felt very clean. Housekeeping was on top of it and felt like they put in the extra effort. Shoutout to Wilmar! Only negatives to the room are the lighting is very dark and very few hooks to hang wet items. Our tower two concierge team of Jairo and Pablo were fantastic. Very helpful when we needed. Also willing to give us a ride!

Biggest downside to the resort is the food and beverages. The food is good but not great by any means. It starts to get very repetitive even for just a 7 night stay. Fasinella was the worst out of the restaurants we tried. We didn’t have a chance to eat at La Sabana as hours were limited and we aren’t big into seafood so we decided to not try Mangular. Cocktails at the speciality restaurants were the highlight but during the day drinks were average. House wines were not great even with the premium liquor upgrade didn’t have an higher end option. Cocktails at Cauri were by far the best. Buffet actually was pretty good. Most impressed by the lunch desserts which we only discovered on our last day. Beach bar tended to get very busy on some nights especially when karaoke was happening but bartenders did a great job keeping up.

Massages were very nice and the spa facilities are great. Only downside is after our treatment we went to enjoy the spa pool but it was a bit overrun by residents/beach club members.

We took a one hour golf lesson with Oscar and he was great, very patient with us.

Definitely recommend and would consider returning for a shorter stay.

We visited this hotel in July 2023 and due to the good experience we had with the Family in 2022, we decided to pay for the Family again, and again we had a wonderful experience, especially knowing that if you pay for the Family you can enter the Westin Club, the adult part, but I clarify that, in the same way, only adults can enter.

Check-in at the Family is done completely separately, in a private place, it is super fast and with exceptional treatment, you can quickly enjoy the magnificent hotel facilities.

The rooms as always, with their unique concept, in perfect order and cleanliness, with a mini bar that is a pleasure just by opening it.

Now there is an application, which allows you to make reservations for a la carte dinners, which is very agile and easy to use, a brief summary of visits to the Restaurants:
Mitra Market: We didn't know it had been remodeled, the place was beautiful and the food and service were excellent.
Caracola: Wonderful, always excellent food and service.
Faisanella: Beautiful place, rich and varied food and excellent service.
Spirula Trattoria: The best of the best of the best! They always indulge me with my favorite dish, even if it's not on the menu.
La Sabana: The best meats served in a magnificent place.

The meals at El Ranchito, the cocktails, the drinks, the pool service, everything is great at this hotel, especially the customer service, which is one of its strengths. It is perhaps a little unfair to mention names, because some may be left out, but a special mention goes to Camila and Andrés del Family, for their excellent service both in the check-in and check-out processes, as well as in the pool area. .

We had an incredible family vacation at the Reserva Conchal! We loved the property and especially the people of Costa Rica and the staff who made our experience one to remember. The location is absolutely beautiful with gorgeous beaches that change as you are walking down the beach to the wonderful pool, restaurants, bars, activity center, live entertainment at the central bar each evening and more! We traveled with four kids and two adults and everyone had a great time. It never felt too crowded even though it was almost 100% capacity. We were able to get dinner reservations and if not, the buffet offered plenty of selections. We loved the restaurant for lunch and the breakfast buffet always gave us something different to try. Erik Garcia with the blue polo on the beach helped us plan a wonderful day we will never forget. We went to a waterfall and then had a very special lunch and zip lining. Our driver was professional and everyone we met along the way was so welcoming. My husband and boys enjoyed a My husband and boys enjoyed an afternoon of golf and both my husband and I made separate trips to the spa and had an amazing massages. The bartenders always made us fabulous drinks and we really enjoyed getting to know them during the week. Our kids have life-threatening food allergies, and the staff was incredible at managing Food Allergies. They asked every single time we sat down if anyone had Food Allergies and took extreme precautions to make sure that all their food was safe. The managers of the buffet walked me through the buffet each day to make sure I knew what have possibly cross-contamination what was safe for my children. That means a lot to Food Allergy families! The Pura Vida lifestyle is the way to live! Can't wait to go back!

Every aspect of our vacation experience has been exceptional at the Westin Playa Conchal. This was our second vacation with our family of 9, including our 3 grandchildren, ages 11, 8 and 4. However, my husband and I have vacationed here 8 times as a couple to golf and to enjoy the Pura Vida experience. The personalized service from the reception team and all of the restaurants has been outstanding. The menus at the a la carte restaurants have great choice and quality food. There is always the opportunity for special requests. The Mitra was a favourite of our family with a good variety of entrees prepared fresh while you wait; pasta, sushi, Costa Rican food; grilled choices and fish. The accommodations are 8 suite bungalows with a private entrance from a terrace into a beautiful, roomy suite which is immaculately cleaned daily. We are always in awe of this resort experience with the beautiful grounds and nature. Our grandchildren are amazed with the flowers, trees and wildlife; numerous iguanas, butterflies, birds and monkey sightings. The amazing, massive pool area is surrounded by lush vegetation and varieties of palm trees. Swimming in the pool was a highlight of each day as well as having time to enjoy the beach and the ocean. We will return.

Overall, well kept grounds and food at the restaurants other than Mitra (cafeteria style) was quite good. They stopped doing reservations for the restaurants a couple of days into our stay and the waits were 45minutes to an hour at one and an hour and a half at a another which is challenging with kids.

Mitra is the cafeteria style breakfast and dinner location and Applebees level quality. Definitely nothing special.

There is no snack type place or coffee shop like we have seen at other all inclusive. Pretty minimal food options between lunch and dinner. Room service isn’t stellar and takes 45+minutes.

We traveled with 2 toddlers and were unable to be in a ground floor room so had to haul the stroller up and down the stairs.

Rooms are private and quiet. Air conditioned- the restaurants are not.

There really aren’t any views from the restaurants or pools.

No kids pool. There is a shallow area that drops right off into a 5 foot area.

Kids under 4 cannot go into kids club at all.

Wouldn’t go back with toddlers- would consider as adults or with older kids

Clean, quiet, safe, food at restaurants is great if you can get in.

Upon arrival to the Westin in Costa Rica, we were greeted by the reception desk and given a full rundown of all the amenities that the resort has to offer. The reservation system for dinner can be accessed on the app up to one week before arrival for booking dinner. If you are unable to get a reservation, all you have to do is ask and the staff is accommodating to help you find a reservation . It was easy to find a trustworthy tour provider right on the beach. Eric Garcia in the blue google shirt will help you out. He’s knowledgeable and is able to give you discounted prices for the more tours that you book. We didn’t even book all the tours at the same time, but he remembered us every time we would return to him. He booked us for the La Fortuna excursion to Climb to the waterfall, horseback riding, and an excellent ATV tour that explored the nearby beaches.
If you’re fortunate enough to have status, you are able to use the adult Westin club pool as well as club amenities, which include full service bar, and snacks throughout the day. There is food service by theWestin club pool as well and a restaurant that only club members can use for breakfast and lunch that sits right beside the club pool. The property is enormous, but there are shuttles that run throughout the day and will bring you anywhere you need to go on the resort property. My family enjoyed golf as well on the grounds and said it was beautifully manicured and not crowded. Overall pleasantly surprised with the food and the quality of drinks for an all inclusive property. I would not hesitate to return.

We were fortunate enough to attend a Destination Wedding at the resort. Costa Rica is a beautiful country, and the Conchal Reserva does an amazing job combining their amenities with the natural beauty of the land and cohabitation with the wildlife. You are guaranteed to see beautiful trees, happy monkeys, sunbathing iguanas, thieving blue tanagers and mischievous coatis!
As we were without kids for the week, we sprung for the upgraded experience: access to adult only pool, concierge service, and upgraded bar access and it was worth every penny. Pools were very well kept and staff was attentive. Bar service can be a little slow sometimes but I think it can be attributed to how many blender style drinks were being ordered on the hot days. Bryan makes the best coconut mojitos.

Housekeeping was immaculate and we often found little extras (bottle of wine, flowers, chocolates, etc). We stayed at Tower Two and our concierges John and B... helped us get where we needed to go and with dinner reservations, etc. I found every staff member to be very friendly, attentive, and genuinely interested in providing a great experience for guests, a true representation of the "Pura Vide" lifestyle!

We spent the vast majority of our last 2 days at the beach, although the pools areas were nice, we had a heat wave at about 97 and the ocean was just more refreshing. Beautiful water, the waves are fun (but would be careful to supervise toddlers). The beach is public but Costa Ricans are very friendly and respectful, just say "no gracias" if you aren't interested in a drink or souvenir, although I think its admirable to support the local economies. Once you are on the beach for 15 minutes you generally get left alone if they know you just want to relax. Negotiate everything. Talk to Erick if you want to take the jetskis for a spin.

We are already planning a return trip.... but with the kids next time. Hopefully it's just as fun!

Bring money for tips- they are appreciated!

Best Dinner: La Sabana Steakhouse
Best Breakfast: Faisella
Best Drink: Coconut Mojito

My wife and I just celebrated our 30th anniversary at the Westin and it was a wonderful week! It was our first visit to CR and we will definitely be back after this experience. From landing at Liberia and being picked up after an easy pass through Customs, we had a fantastic time at the Westin.

We have stayed at several other All Inclusives and while none of them ever had bad food, many times it's just not great food? Know what I mean? We had some really good to great meals here. The fruits and veg are so fresh and the meats were surprisingly tasty and tender. The service was typically outstanding, we had a couple of times of waiting for beverages but never more than a few minutes and the food was always very prompt. No salt and pepper on the table was never an issue, dishes were well seasoned in the kitchen. There are so many options between all the various theme restaurants and the Mitral Market I can't imagine someone not finding healthy delicious calories while visiting here.

We booked a private dinner at the Gazebo on the lagoon for our anniversary and it was well worth the extra fees. To start, Luis with the banquet staff could not have been better! He had all the cheesy stuff my wife appreciated, lights and perfect romantic music cued up, candles and flowers sprinkled all around, and champagne chilling in the ice bucket. Luis was the perfect host, it is difficult to be available for all requests while still granting us privacy and he blended the two perfectly. The food was outstanding, the lobster tail was massive and delicious. It was a wonderful evening capped off with spectacular desserts.

When it came time to book tours my wife really wanted to arrange everything before we arrived to ensure our choices would be available. She booked Rio Celeste through the hotel and Swiss Tours and it was a fantastic trip. Ciro was our guide and his knowledge was vast and amazed me how diverse it was. he could explain everything thoroughly.

I had seen several reviews mention Erick G in the blue shirt down at the beach and always like to find locals to help with bookings and excursions. Erick has taken this to new levels! I sent him a text before we arrived and he responded immediately. We ended up having a phone call before we even got to CR and had verbal commitments for a couple of tours. As soon as we got there we met up with him and he is so organized, so knowledgeable of everything CR, and very helpful deciding what tours best fit our needs. Do not hesitate to use him, he sends texts the night before each trip with tips on what to bring and who to look for and where to meet them. We could not have been more pleased with his services.

Lastly, the housekeeping staff was perfect. We ordered room service a few times and they were prompt and efficient and returned to clear dishes without being asked each time. The room was spotless, the mini bar restocked and adapted to our needs quickly and the grounds are beautifully maintained.

We stayed at the Westin Reserva Conchal, Guanacaste in Costa Rica from 09.-13.06.24. To start with the positive: The food, which can be ordered a la carte at lunch and dinner in various restaurants, was of good quality. The staff was friendly throughout. However, the reservation, which was necessary especially in the evening, was difficult and was always problematic. Likewise, the placement at breakfast was always associated with waiting time.

Otherwise, our room was not adequate for a price per night of 400 €. The room was refurbished at some point, causing stains of color on the floor throughout the access to the apartment and on the terrace. The cleanliness of the room especially in the bathroom was very poor (mold in various places, glass swing door smeared everywhere, furniture dirty). The room was very dark. The use of the air conditioning was only usable with constant draughts which were directed directly at the bed. The view from the apartment was of muddy waters. The terrace did not offer any privacy, as it was freely accessible and visible to everyone via the access to the apartment.

The worst thing, however, was the fact that it was a room with a connecting door to the neighboring apartment. The door had no seals whatsoever, which is why the noise of the neighbouring apartment was so strongly audible that it was thought the neighbours were standing in their own apartment.

Several complaints were unsuccessful, although at least at check-out it was promised that they wanted to be recognizable via the Marriott Award program (Choice). However, this has not taken place to date.

The entire plant was regularly sprayed with pesticides in the presence of guests in close proximity. This was probably necessary to ensure habitability at all, as standing waters were present everywhere near the hotel. At least the worker wore a face mask while spraying.

It was a hotel that was almost 100% visited by Americans who filled themselves with hard alcohol throughout the day, partly in the presence of their underage children, which was sometimes even available for self-service throughout the resort (absolute horror).

The beach in front of the hotel and the sea were very nice. However, about every 5 minutes you have to expect that some beach vendor wants to sell you something. However, this is almost everywhere in Costa Rica.

I can only strongly advise against staying there at this price level!

Pre-arrival, I was in communication with Joaquin, who was very hospitable, kindly booking all of dinner reservations in advance of our arrival and coming to greet us at Mitra on our first full day at the resort. He helped us with our airport transfer back to LIR, invited us to the Bonvoy event, made sure we were aware of the special on-site Guanacaste Annexation celebrations, and came to say good-bye to us during our last day. He was so kind and helpful!
Check in was smooth and the bellman gave us a ride to our building with our bags. There are plenty of golf carts around to give you a ride, although we didn’t use them very often since the property is very walkable.
I enjoyed the Run Westin routes but the directions were a bit unclear, when I had to leave the resort so I would recommend overlaying the Run Westin map with Google maps to confirm where you are and where you are going or talking to someone at the resort in advance of the run. Be ready for hills!
The food options were good and we enjoyed the swim up bar at the pool.
Not too much competition for lounge chairs by the pool.
I enjoyed the on-site hike excursion, although it ran long so I had to rush to breakfast afterwards. There are a few trails nearby off-site of the Westin where these excursions take you.
My family enjoyed 9 holes of golf and appreciated the shoe rentals, since it was the morning after torrential rain.
We also enjoyed having access to the paddle board at the beach and we picked up souvenirs along the beach and in the gift shops.
The vendors were not pushy and the horses were maintained by the tree line, which was nice because there were some online reviews that forewarned that the vendors were aggressive and the beach was riddled with horse waste. This was not my experience.
My family enjoyed the gym, too.
And the howler monkeys! Who needs an alarm clock?? They were fun to watch and you will definitely hear them.
Checkout was fine; I do wish I had the opportunity to review all charges in advance, by having the folio emailed to me the morning of checkout.
Overall, so many things to see and do, together as a family and on our own. A truly memorable experience!
