We have stayed twice, and both times we were bowled over by the quality of the food and the warmth of our welcome. All the food is locally sourced and prepared and presented to a very high standard. The village is idyllic with a stream running through the middle and moors all round. Highly recommended.

With the help of a relative, and the couple who own, manage and prepare the food here, we planned a family dinner for a Tuesday night. We had two rooms for the 41 of us, and due to pre-ordering from a list of 5 items in each category, we were served quickly--not sure how they managed that! The food was... More

If you are lucky enough to visit this pub be sure to try the haddock. It was mouth watering gorgeous. Ever tried chocolate & beetroot cake? It's here & divine. The staff are friendly & knowledgeable about the menu. Very homely atmosphere, spotlessly clean. A great night.

We were staying in nearby Whitby but having previously had dinner at The Board Inn decided to have dinner here. We were not disappointed. Home cooked food, cooked to order to a very high standard. The beer was also excellent and the staff were very friendly and efficient. Thoroughly recommended and worth the short drive to the beautiful village.

I actually stopped here for 4 weeks whilst I was working up there. What an amazing picturesque setting. The accommodation, the food, the hospitality was outstanding. Would definitely stop here again. Used to love getting up in the morning and walking to river casually flowing past the establishment. Not forgetting the local Heron! As in the bird. 👍

We booked to eat on a weekday foggy night in June. Was pleased and surprised how dog friendly the Board Inn is, the only place I can think of in 10 years where we have eaten with our springer in the dining room rather than the bar. The dining room itself is rather quaint, with lots of old pictures, carpeted... More

Never having stopped over in Yorkshire before this was truly a wonderful introduction to the county. We had two nights with dinner but be warned the proprietors fill you up at breakfast then fill you up again in the evening with magnificent food, well prepared and presented. A very hard working, pleasant, cheerful, good natured couple run the establishment and nothing... More

This pub is lovely. We wanted a change from staying in Whitby. You are on the line for the train if you do want to visit. Owner and staff were very welcoming and friendly. Lovely beer garden on the river. Room 5 where we stayed was lovely. Spacious, lovely view, four poster bed, very clean, and had separate room with... More

Had a lovely family meal last night. Quality ingredients freshly cooked and hearty portions. The best part, bent over backwards to accommodate my little one and his fussy eating. Leave room for dessert, especially their own ice cream. Will definitely come back when we're next in the area.
