Wonderful place tucked inside the lush, green highlands of Sinharaja rainforest. It's located just about 100 meters from the forest entrance and the resort consists of 4 chalets with private balconies overlooking Sinharaja. Their chalets are equipped with basic facilities including hot water, decent beds and air conditioning. They also have non A/C chalets but other options are the same. In terms of food, they don't have a massive menu. It's either Sri Lankan, or basic Chinese dishes such as fried rice, deviled dishes, etc. Nevertheless their food is absolutely delicious and there's nothing to complain about. Portion sizes are more than enough and filling. The resort is done by a local family and their service and hospitality is commendable. They made us feel like home during our stay. Guests can also arrange nature trails and hikes which the resort staff will facilitate. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway by a forest, this is definitely the place to visit.

Stayed with family and friends for two nights. Great service going above and beyond to organise transport and a choice of trekking in the rainforest. Accommodation is simple but very comfortable and food was excellent. Highly recommended, would definitely stay again.

We stayed here for three nights, doing the 10km (5 hour) tour of the Sinharaja Rainforest with the host. This is a special place-not just the area-but the lodge and the family who runs it. We stayed in a deluxe Mountain View room and it was absolutely lovely. Large comfortable bed, AC when necessary, a balcony with stunning views and great showers (hot and cold water). The host’s mother cooks all of the food and everything we ate was delightful (for dinner, we had only local curries and breakfast was omelette/filled toasts/fruits/coconut pancake/tea). The tea is grown by the host’s father and is literally the best I’ve ever tasted. The prices are reasonable for what you are experiencing in this remote and lush part of the country. There is little/no WiFi most of the time, so plan accordingly. The rainforest tour was pleasant, with views of some monkeys, lizards, snakes, birds and much flora. We visited two waterfalls, which were both beautiful (bring your swimsuit!). I’d say a little underwhelming in general, as it is a dry time and so fewer animals are out, but a great walk through the forest. We truly enjoyed our time here and would highly recommend this out of the way area and lovely lodge to other nature lovers.

The dinner was good, but it didn't live up to the hype. Breakfast was really bad. it was like it had been cooked a few days in advance. They offer a guide for 3500 per person (3hr) or 4500 per person (6hr) in the forest, really overpriced..(some other guesthouses were apparently paying 9,000 each... which is absolutely outrageous..) After researching before we got there, we decided that we would not take the guide at the guesthouse and we would go to the park entrance and get one there (for 1000 pp for 4 hr tour). When we told the guy at the guesthouse he seemed pissed and really didn't treat us the same after that. He even mentioned that the gate doesn't open until 8, which we found to be untrue as many tours were going in before then. there is some sort of scam going on with all the guesthouses and guides. Go to the conservation centre in the forest, buy your ticket and ask for a guide there. They will ask you how many hours you want and what you want to pay. we offered 1,000 each as thats what we read and they were fine with that, there was no haggling.

Room Tip: budget rooms are actually affordable but don't have the nice view like the other rooms.

We stayed here for three nights after a 12-day tour. It was a wonderful way to unwind, and although we knew in advance that there was no internet service, we were totally surprised at how difficult it was to make the transition to “disconnected” (our issue, not that of the Lodge)! We somehow missed the part about having to take a Tuk Tuk the last kilometer or so, but once we arrived we just considered it a unique part of the experience. The owner and his family were so welcoming and offered amazing hospitality; it was almost like being guests in their home. The room we had was basic, yet comfortable, and looked out over the valley and tea plantation. We enjoyed just sitting on the balcony, reading and generally watching the world go by. Breakfast was included with the room and was served at a time agreed to the previous night. Other meals and drinks were available at nominal cost. We opted to have our other meals at the lodge and were not disappointed. The serving sizes were more than adequate, and the food delicious. We went on a three-hour walk through the rainforest, but the son who did the tour was so eager to show us the plants, insects, and animals – and so patient with my lack of balance and trepidation on some of the trickier parts of the trail – that it took us well over four hours. However his enthusiasm continued until he delivered us safely back to the lodge.
