This ger camp can accommodate 3-4 persons but there was only too of us so its pretty spacious. As this is like an authentic wild Mongolia experience, there is hence no wifi available in the Ger. Toilet facilities are also outside. Food is reasonably nice. Overall, experience was good. Cleanliness of the Ger is there as well.

We had just one night here in what turned out to be marvellous, if cold, weather.

Our ger was basic but warm and comfortable. Beds were adequate and a towel provided. The ger had electric light and a wood fire which burnt down quite fast so there was a need to get up to enliven it in the middle of the night. A vaccum of hot water was provided.

The admin block contained shared toilets and showers with separate provision for men and women. The dining room was there too. We had full board. Breakfast was good, lunch was a good, filling hostel type meal, dinner was fine but a bit thin. We didn't have much to do with staff but they seemed friendly and helpful.

The park is good (small exhibition on site) and we were able to get easy, safe, walking in on our own from the camp.

If you get all precious when there is no hairdrier, TV or other frippery this place is not for you. However if you want to spend a night on the steppe in traditional accommodation (and if you don't why are you in Mongolia?) then go for it!

The food was very good at the ger camp. The vegetable soup with peanuts was excellent! It is a far drive into the park to get to the camp. The wild horses are amazing as is their history. The beds were very comfortable as were the gers. Bathrooms and showers were fine. Clean and well maintained. The gift shop stayed open late and opened at 6 am in the morning! It had an excellent assortment of goods and good prices. This is a very nice ger camp and the people were gracious and hospitable. A nice place to stay!

We were in this ger camp as part of a tour. The gers were also very comfortable and clean, but everything is a bit old. There were only 2 showers and toilets for the women, so it was difficult to get a free shower when there were several tour groups in the camp.
One positive thing was that there was a power outlet in the ger, and there was even limited WiFi in the main building.
The portafilter machine in the dining room deserves special mention, as it made me an excellent coffee :)

My sister and I stayed here for 3 weeks in May/June 2010 on the Przewalski horse (takhi) Ecovolunteer programme and had an amazing time. Tourists can also stay at the camp and the accommodation is the same, but I cannot comment on cost or services provided to them.

The gers are cosy and very comfortable accommodation. Each ger has a single electric light bulb although the electricity supply goes down not infrequently. The paths are lit at times, but bringing a torch is recommended. We were there in spring, and daytime temperatures varied between 33 degrees celsius and zero celsius (-13 degrees celsius with windchill). The fire warmed the ger very quickly, usually so well that we had to open the door. However it cooled down overnight and was often a chilly 6-10 degrees inside in the morning (although this is no worse than my bedroom at home!). We usually lit the fire ourselves but sometimes ger attendants appeared and lit it for us. Once or twice there was no coal or wood provided for a half-day or so because the camp ran out. However we were always able to find some scraps around the camp.

The gers are lockable with a padlock. We did not feel this was probably necessary but given the tourists coming and going, we erred on the side of caution.

There are two toilet blocks, one under the restaurant and another one (only open seasonally) in the corner of the camp. Both had better facilities than I had expected, with hot running water at specified times of day and cold at all times, electric lights, mirrors, basins with running water, flush toilets, etc.

Internet is available in the restaurant on one computer at reasonable rates. Again, it was down at times. The restaurant fed us exceedingly well and I cannot speak highly enough of the food and service. If we wanted to go for a hike on our days off they would pack us a picnic lunch. There was a bar that served drinks until closing time at 10pm.
The volunteer coordinator took us horseriding a number of evenings and the camp's horses were quite safe and well mannered even for beginners; however don't expect to necessarily get a comfortable english or western style saddle!

We spent a lot of time watching the takhi in the course of our work, but we also came across three of them by chance when out for a hike. However if you are unguided, or with a guide not familiar with the takhi, I'm not certain how close or if you would necessarily get to see them.

The location was absolutely stunning, with steppe (complete with horses, goats, sheep, cows and marmots) literally on our doorstep. We loved living in the ger and loved the takhi, and I would not hesitate to go back to Hustai and stay for longer next time.

I'm not sure if out issues staying here were related to our late arrival, we got in about 2am because our flight from Beijing was delayed 12 hours (quite common on Air China apparently). The Ger itself was quite nice and once the fire was started it warmed up quickly and was very pleasent. The problem was at around 5am the fire had gone out and the Ger was absolutely freezing, so cold that I had to cover my head completely in blankets and I was still too cold to sleep properly. No one had explained how to get the fire restarted so there was nothing we could do. Around 7am someone came in and started the fire again. Then when we went for a shower there was no hot water (pretty grim when the outside temperature is so cold) and a man walked in on my wife who was undressing in the ladies changing rooms. The only food we had was breakfast which was OK. This seems to be the only place to stay if you want to visit the park so it is what it is, no reason for things to change until there is some competition. The park is lovely and well worth visiting.

The ger was huge, and restrooms and restaurant were very clean and nearby. The staff was very friendly. They opened the gift shp in the morning so we could make a few purchases.
The movie was interesting to learn the history of the park.

As a biologist I maybe a little bias in my excitement and enthusiasm for Hustai. We stayed in the Ger camp for 2 nights via the Shuren Travel team. The get was comfortable, clean, & basic ammenities like electricity were available. The communal washrooms/showers were well taken care of. I would however recco the showers attached to the main bldg/restaurant vs the showers attached to the info center. The scenery and setting couldn't have been more beautiful & natural. Wild horses, birds, and breathtaking sunsets. I do however wish staff told more ppl about some of the more sustainable options guests can make. For example, we were offerred a fire each night in our cabin...yet knowing what a commodity wood is (aka--it's VERY difficult to find and expensive p stock...keep on mind, you're on the Mongolian Steppe people!) we declined the fire and opted for an extra blanket. Simple notes to guests about sustainable choices they could make to better support Mongolian would be a nice touch.

If you want to see the Przewalski horses in Hustai National park you really do need to stay overnight, as dusk and dawn is when they come down from the high terrain to drink in the valley creeks. This camp is 10 kilometers from one of the most likely place to see them ( we saw about 20 in 2 different groups) and it's really the only camp in the area.

The gers are pretty good (I've stayed in quite a few), similar to many camps. The beds are OK with quilts, but terrible pillows...common to many ger camps.

The showers and toilets were quite a bit below average for such camps, with only 2 showers for the men and no hot water, and not particularly clean.

The restaurant food was good, but as with many camps they try to cater to Western palates with fairly bad imitations of western food. Vodka and beer were in the 2,000 to 4,000 tugrik range.

As for the cold mornings others have spoken about, the staff here, like nearly all camps, will come to your ger to light a fire in the morning as well as at night. Just tell them what time you'd like the fire (we've had one lit as early as 4 am!) before you turn in and they'll come in and get it going for you. Just don't lock your door at night! And yes, the fires do heat the gers very quickly and you'll probably end up opening the door to cool off a bit.

When we were there, the in-suite toilet and shower gers were not available because of a plumbing problem. This is a big camp and the two small communal washrooms/toilets are inadequate for all the guests. Older gents that have to go several times a night found it to be a real inconvenience. The food was less varied and less tasty compared to other gers. Of the three unopened bottles of wine they had for sale, the one I picked had already turned. The only reason for staying here is that the wild prehistoric horses are nearby.
