Booked a room online and got a booking ref , rang to see if they needed a deposit and was told abruptly " there are no rooms available on that day " several hours later got a phone call from an obnoxious bloke demanding that I remove my booking as I had been TOLD there aren't any rooms available ,... We had a family party here at the weekend. All the staff including the landlord and landlady were very friendly and welcoming. The food on the childrens and adults buffet was fab. Plenty of sandwiches and hot choices including chicken goujons, tasty pizzas, chunky chips and home cooked curries. Yes it was very busy, but the staff worked really hard... More

We booked a table for two via the pubs internet booking system a week before the 30th April. We walked two miles to get there. When we got there the pub was heaving with small children and their parents but we did not think anything of it and got a drink. We sat down on some wooden benchs with dirty... More

We've had a few meals at the Alma in recent years and always recommended it to others because of the pizzas. This is the first time that we've been for about a year and it's either deteriorated drastically or we went on a bad night. Our 2 margarita pizzas consisted mainly of tomato purée and hardly any cheese. It was... More

Attended after work with my husband we were the first ones in and last to leave.. Kept company by Ruby the dog whilst being served for drinks. Nice pub and it's beautiful if you go in the summer months and sit outside. We had pizza which was very nice. We go regular so we will be back again, nice cider... More

Dropped in here recently for a glass of Tetley's cask bitter, which was in very good form, and a couple of glasses of house white, which was also very acceptable. Nice real fire throwing out a good heat (the weather was, to say the least, a bit dodgy!) and a warm welcome to go with it. Good size car park... More

Lovely views, cozy and warm welcome. Nice food and served Sunday dinners in the week . Helpful, dog friendly pub .Made the family welcome and the fish and chips is a must. Home cooked, tasty meals. Lovely walks just outside the pub to burn off the calories.

We went for Sunday lunch and had to wait an hour from the time of ordering to receiving our starters. Admittedly there had been a group of cyclists in before us. Got very embarrassing. Waitress carried one plate at a time which probably didn't help. Very disappointing.

Had a lovely time at this very friendly Inn. The staff were pleasant and food arrived in good time, well cooked and tasted very good. We stayed in the family room, which was very clean, had tea and coffee making facilities (and plenty of it) and a clean en-suite with a good shower. The building itself is beautiful and of... More

Puzzled by some of the bad reviews here. We stayed as it was on the route of a walk we were doing. All in all a very enjoyable stay - a warm welcome from the landlady, a cozy bar with a log fire and a friendly dog, excellent food - both the pizzas and the pies were excellent and substantial...
