Had a good Sunday lunch after attending a lovely Christening for my Great Nephew. The food was plentiful and hot and did in fact beat me so I had to leave a small amount. The weather was chilly but sunny so the views were stunning with all the Autumn colours on the trees. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

Very convenient just off M62 jct 22 travelled night before business meeting and stayed over ,had a great breakfast whilst my colleagues were stuck in traffic, room clean , staff very helpful - great pub with cask ales and a recently refurbished business meeting room, it was a perfect mid week stay over. Thank you.

The Turnpike was ideally located for our stay while visiting friends. The room was very clean and comfortable. We had snacks late afternoon and then breakfast the following morning...we enjoyed both. We would recommend the Turnpike for both accommodation and food.

Lovely Sunday lunch, burger and lovely gammon and eggs. Very friendly service. Nice and clean, spacious inside not too cramped. I would definitely recommend. Lots of parking and would also be nice to sit outside when it's sunny.

Friendly, and welcoming staff, who were keen to give good service. Comfortable room with a good hot shower. Wholesome local ingredients with a good menu choice for evening meal, definitely recommend steak & ale pie alongside great cask ales and well cooked English breakfast. I will deferential be back, if only for the steak & ale pie and the JW... More

Stayed here overnight on a Friday in mid-April. We arrived to find notices posted that "we've got the builders in" - there was no mention of this on the website nor at the time of booking, and we really should have been told this, which would have given us the option to cancel. The fairly large dining room to the... More

The Inn itself is a quaint place and has a stunning view of the Moors and the Dam. We opted for the Duvet & Dine and at £120 which included £40 towards an Evening meal & £15 towards a bottle of plonk we didn't think it was to bad a deal. The staff were very friendly and after booking in... More

Overall the 2 night stay was good. Yes the rooms could do with a bit of TLC ie broken ceiling bulbs needed replacing, cracked bathroom sink needed replacing, bit of grouting repair in the bathrooms, tidy up the rear of the property and get rid of the accumulated rubbish. The breakfast though was comprehensive and substantial. Throughout the stay all... More

Overpriced, over promised and under delivered. Spent over 3 hours here today for Sunday lunch. Chaotic service. Lots of forgetting of drinks. Complete inability to understand we had two separate tabs on the table. food arriving at wildly different times. Just a bit of a mess really, and not at all cheap. Never again

We have stayed here on lots of occasions but will not be coming back. I don't know what's gone wrong with a new regime in place but: 1. We were not told that there was now a levy being charged for dogs and it isn't advertised. It didn't used to apply. 2. We were given the smallest possible room in... More
