It's a little hard to find it based on the road signs but very well worth the effort. There's a good sign/poster in the square in Rosscarbery that shows the castle was well as other local sites. Peter gave us a fantastic tour explaining the structure of the castle and also the history of the site. They also offer a... More

Really worth a visit . If it is on your way you should definitely stop there and visit the castle. You first of all can't see it but the owner directly saw us coming and welcomed us . You have to walk on the opposite side of the house and there it is. Lovely , real Irish man who gave... More

On his last day of the season Peter was heading of for taking down the road signs. What were we lucky to see the signs and arrived at the right time. The nature around the castle is beautiful. The castle from the outside is okay. What it makes it really worthwhile is the wow factor of the castle within. Also... More

We didn't stay overnight in Castle Salem but just visited it one day and had a guided tour. Our guide was really entertaining and if you think guided tours are boring - this one was definitely not! Before visiting this place we didn't know what to expect and we were really pleasantly surprised. Also, if you like pets - there... More

I visited Castel Salem last Sunday, and it is well worth visiting if you are in the area. Take the free guiged tour, but be sure to leave a generous donation in the box. The owner is very knowledgable and entertaining, and the restoration is very sympathetic. Be sure to visit the privy!

The first 2 nights we spent in Ireland were at Castle Salem. Mrs. Daly and her family were the most accomodating of our entire trip. The setting is beautiful, the house is cozy, the tour of the castle is fascinating. As good as all that, the best part is having breakfast next to the family fireplace and having a nice... More

We stayed with Margaret and Michael for four lovely nights and we all enjoyed it. This is true Irish hospitality at its best. We had the privilege of having the same room that William Penn occupied many centuries ago. The castle itself is now undergoing major improvements as Peter, Margaret's son, is restoring it to its former glory. His aim... More

We really didn't know what to expect when we booked for one night in May 2008. I'm so glad we did book! We were treated like old friends by Margaret, the owner. We had home made scones with home made jam as soon as we arrived. And the cooked breakfast was huge! Margaret was also happy to 'taxi' us, when... More

From the moment we arrived Margaret made us exceptionally welcome. She always had homemade scones and jam, or cake, awaiting us, along with a fresh pot of tea. Having a lovely cooked breakfast with the other guests each morning was also very sociable, and made for an excellent start to the day. Well placed for exploring Rosscarbery and the surrounding... If you want authentic Irish Hospitality, this is the place! The Daley's make great hosts! We stayed for only one night, but it was our favorite stay of our vacation. We arrived as a farrier was doing the finishing touches on Margaret's son's Irish pacer horse. We had a great discussion of horses and he also took us out to... More
