We recently had our winter wedding at Tarraleah, which was our second visit to the property/village. There are so many highlights about our wedding weekend, but (aside from marrying my darling and spending time with my friends and family) the three stand outs for me were the stunning wilderness scenery, the beautifully restored Art Deco accommodation (with fireplaces!) and the... Tarraleah Lodge is situated in the highlands of Tasmania. The lodged was originally built for Hydro Electric engineers and directors and is now upmarket accommodation. We arrived late on a very wintry like evening in February 2016. It was not all that obvious which was the lodge due ot the lack of signage but a helpful local informed us we... More

Went back to Tarraleah Lodge for our second wedding anniversary after our marriage there in 2014. It was just as good as I remembered. Service is still amazing, rooms still luxurious and food still wonderful. I just love this place and plan to go back every year.

The whole town is owned by one operator. Painstakingly and expensively restored to its original Federation and Art Deco style, The place has a great feel about it. We stayed in the opulent hotel complex originally built for Tassie Hydro management. You can stay in a range of other accommodation from quaint little self-contained apartments through to lower rent rooms... More

Loved our 2nd visit here, especially the host Chrissy at The Lodge. So nice to be welcomed in pleasant surroundings and given relevant information on the property, dinner and breakfast. Also delighted with welcome drinks and canapes in the lounge. This time we came with 2 other couples. Rooms are truly beautiful, all a little different, with their own character.... More

A superb place to stay. Peaceful - completely silent at night! Small marsupials and possums inhabit the place, there are ducks and geese on the pond in the village green and interesting bird life. The village is serene and charmingly renovated, the cottages are well set up with much of the old furniture still in them. There are some excellent... More

Tarraleah Lodge has to be one of Tasmanias finest renovation hotels . Perched on the edge of the escarpment with wonderful views all around ,a luxuriously renovated 9 bedroom hotel with period features faithfully restored throughout it offers complete relaxation away from the tourist hussle of other spots. We had only 2 days to enjoy the peace, the walks, the... More

Having left Strahan on Tasmania's west coast, we were expecting to reach New Norfolk to overnight. However, worthwhile stops at Lake St Clair and The Wall required an earlier destination. We turned into Tarraleah on spec and found a great park, well maintained and with friendly staff and excellent facilities. A real bonus was the catering available at the onsite... More

We had three wonderful nights in the Lodge at Tarraleah as part of a short trip to Tasmania. The lodge is small, with only nine guest rooms. Our room was very spacious, with a very comfortable king-sized bed, was very tastefully furnished and had a lovely view across the lodge's gardens. We were welcomed by the lodge's host, Chrissy, who... More
