Detailed Reviews
Hosts are exceptional. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Good food. Off the beaten path. Its a 5 minute walk to a great white sand beach. Great place to go if you want some down time or if you like surfing.
We went horseback riding (our Child got to do beach riding), Ziplining, body surfing, turtle watching, etc. Hosts helped guide many of the activities.
As an aside, suggest taking a body board with you -- renting one in Costa Rica can be a bit expensive.

Mundo Milo provided the perfect ambiance for a relaxing end to our holidays. Our small kids loved the pool, the nearby beach, and of course the turtle hatchery which is in direct contact with the lodge. Rooms are very neat and the food is awesome (especially Tuesday Sushi nights!)
Lieke and Michiel are very welcoming hosts who try to make the most of your stay. Note; waiting for the additional smile? Bring Dutch licorice :)
Everything is open air, so no risk for Covid infections.

I stayed at Mundo Milo in January, and had the most wonderful experience. Lieke and Michiel are friendly and caring folks, and they made especially sure that as a single traveler I was never at a loss for companionship or suggestions for excursions. I was lucky enough to see a baby turtle release, the highlight of my week in this terrific coastal area. My cabina was large, well equipped, clean and quiet. I plan to return next year! Thank you, Lieke and Michiel, for an unforgettable stay and for all you did to make me feel at home.

We stayed just one night on our way to the airport. It was a very lovely small boutique type hotel. The rooms were clean and the bedding was fresh which I really appreciated. Loved the pool area, the water in the pool was perfect for cooling down. The owners were welcoming and the food, we had all three meals there, was amazing. The wait staff at dinner were charming.I don’t like to sleep with ac but we had no choice because the windows don’t open. There is a fan in the room but it didn’t cool the room enough to turn off the air. I must comment however that the ac unit in our room so so quiet u could barely hear it. I would recommend this place to anyone that is planning a trip to this area.

We were drawn to Mundo Milo from their website and previous reviews. The reality of the place and the warmth of the resident owners - Lieke and Michiel, far exceeded our expectations! From the moment of our arrival to our farewell hugs, we had the best experience.
Our little African cabina was a delight. It really does feel like you are in the woods, especially when the howler monkeys woke us up before 5 am on our first morning! The wildness of the grounds enables that jungle feeling to remain everywhere on site. The swimming pool is surrounded by palm fronds and colourful flora and the birds dip past. Some of the hungrier birds hover at meal times and noisily make their presence felt! Rescued squirrels add to the forest feel.
Lieke is a great chef and presides over the excellent menu. Michiel designs and builds the variously themed cabinas. We'd love to return and have already recommended Mundo Milo to others. Highly recommended - do not hesitate to book, you will not be disappointed, a truly special experience!

This lodge is a gem! We absolutely loved everything here. Our house was spacious, so was the bathroom and the terrace was lovely to sit outside in the evening. Our house was very private and quiet. The pool was perfect for a swim. As there are no other restaurants nearby we had dinner twice here. The food was really good - just don`t forget to make a reservation as there are not so many tables and people come here for dinner who do not stay here. Breakfast was included in the room price. The beach is just down the road, you can either walk down which takes about 5 minutes or go with the car and park right on the beach. The beach is amazing! The owners are very friendly and helpful. We would definately stay here again.

I am beyond grateful for my stay in Mundo Milo. No words is enough to describe my humble experience. I came here with the intention of spending one night, away from home, to say the least- I am still here on day 3. From the minute I walked in Lieke (the owner) greeted my with. a smile & explained a few things about the suite I am stying in. Everything is so thoughtfully created to have this extraordinary experience to connect with nature & simplicity of life. While it may seem so simple, I couldn't help to notice the intentions and efforts behind every little thing that was placed to give guests the out pouring love that she carries in her heart. Michiel & Lieke are extremely thoughtful people, I am grateful to witness their true care and the hospitality of serving others. I have created a retreat name "Lalambari" to serve my purpose and I feel the Universe has guided me to experience this stay and to learn how Lieke & Michiel are doing what they love to do, and sharing their joy with others. This place is not only beautiful & welcoming, it is also full of nature & you will see all the beautiful singing birds around, the pool is stunning, food is out of this world. I am truly grateful for this incredible experience. Thank You Lieke & Michiel for doing what you do, a big thanks to all your staff as well. I intend to be back with my family and friends to share this experience again.

This is a review of the restaurant as we did not stay in the lodge. The restaurant food is fantastic. If you are there on Tuesday go for the sushi. This meal was the best we had on our trip to Costa Rica. Fresh, professionally prepared sushi at very reasonable price. Lovely setting under a beautiful wood roof in the jungle. The menu has lots of options and it was the only place we went out to eat when we were in the Playa Junquilla area. Highly recommend!!

Top quality eco lodge, lovely themed rooms (Asia, Mexico, Africa, Persia), some with kitchens.
Great central restaurant and games and bar hangout area, nice pool, wonderful atmosphere. Serene and tranquil.
Great hosts who have dedicated their life to building a wonderful home from home and are interested in their guests and very accommodating of any requests, needs, etc
Nice beach a short 5min drive away, to snorkel, explore rock pools, etc
Highly recommend!

We were booked at this lovely secluded resort for the month of March. Sadly, the pandemic forced us to leave after only 1/2 of our booked time. I can't say enough about the hospitality received from Leike, Michiel and all of their staff.
Trust me - believe what past guests have reported on this little gem of a resort.
Being the last to depart before the airport shut down, we were driven in the middle of the night to Liberia to make our flight.
We arrived as guests, and felt that we left as friends. That's what this place can do to you.
When this place opens up again, once the pandemic has passed, consider booking asap!
One word of caution - this place is best for those looking for something different than large vacation spots, and far from the maddening crowds!
If you want the bar life and crowded beaches, go somewhere else, or have a car.
As for me and my wife - it was just what we were looking for having recently been to a popular, very large resort in the D.R.

Is it possible to send an email to info at mundomilo for more detailed answers? Thank you, Lieke van de Loo
hello, thank you for your interest in our lodge. Scuba diving is available in Tamarindo, half an hour by car from our lodge or in San Juanillo south from us 45 min. drive from our lodge.
please let us know if you need more information, Lieke van de Loo
Hello, can you please send me an email direct? I have some questions regarding the yoga retreat. Sunny regards, Lieke van de Loo
Hi Helen, thank you first of all for your interest in our lodge. From San Jose you can come to our lodge with private taxi $ 250 for a 4 hour drive or by bus from San Jose centre from the Alfaro Busstation to Santa Cruz (4 hours) and from Santa Cruz another bus to PLaya Junquillal (45 min.). There are shuttle buses that go daily from San Jose to Tamarindo (half an hour from Junquillal) and they charge approx. $ 50 pp. From Tamarindo it will be another $ 50 to our lodge with private taxi. Let me know if you need more information or if tere is anything else I can help you with, sunny regards, Lieke van de Loo
It is suitable for a family and there's a pool. However, not so much a swimmable beach. The closest beach (walkable distance) has relatively strong tides and is not a beach for swimming. I suggest renting a car (not necessary but I recommend it - it's easy to drive around) and you can get to some nicer beaches about 20 minutes or half hour away. Hope this helps!
"We chose to arrange ground transportation for $110 each way from the Liberia airport. This lodge is better suited for those with a vehicle."Read full review
