Hotel Solon is the only hotel that my family and I will stay at in Tolo. We were greeted personally by the owner and his son upon our arrival. Our rooms were fantastic and the sea side view is breathtaking. The ENTIRE staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. The restaurant at Hotel Solon should be frequented often since the food is fantastic at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food and service is as wonderful as the spectacular view you have of the sea. This is my 11th trip to Greece and my family’s first trip and my family has listed Hotel Solon and Tolo as their favorite place in the country. The owner and staff has truly made their hotel our “home away from home”.

The Hotel is literally on the beach. Amazing view on the beach and the isles from my room with balcony. The hosts are very nice and friendly. The owner is fluent in English and provides a lot of tips about the area. Breakfast is good and I recommend to order a fresh orange juice. Food from the restaurant is excellent and you will find a lot of different food from Pizza, pasta, burger till fresh fishes from the local fishers or traditional Greek recipes. Finally, the rooms are very quiet and you can listen to the waves helping you to sleep easily.

Great food at a good price, very good local wine, extremely friendly staff, clean rooms... the sea is next to the bar and the bar is next to the sea :). A good place for a family vacation, I highly recommend it.

I've never seen a worse room like this. Crumpled walls, lime falls off walls, everything dirty, aged, you go back 40 years. The most horrible experience. I had a reservation for 5 days and left after the first day.

Great view of the bay, excellent traditional Greek food as well some international dishes. The hotel is just a few meters from the water, and Solon has umbrellas and tables on the beach. The staff was very friendly. Would recommend!

If you are a family with children you cannot find a better spot no matter how hard you look. The number one attribute of Hotel Solon is its location. From its large veranda which offers a breathtaking view and accommodates more than 30 tables, you go down 8 steps and about 20 feet over the sandy shore to the water’s edge! The sea here is very clean, tranquil and shallow. You are able to see the sandy bottom of the sea and go into it more than 100 feet before you reach 6 foot depth. The current operators: George, Dina, and their son John have upgraded both the hotel amenities and the restaurant to the highest level we have ever experienced, coming here since 1972! In addition they have developed a steady, long term staff that is well trained and beyond courteous. The breakfast which is included offers a wide range of morning favorites, buffet style. Greek yogurt, rice pudding and pastries are included. Yes, you can splurge on your favorites. The rooms are clean, neat and with daily maid service. Each room has a shower bathroom, AC, TV, phone, refrigerator and free Wi-Fi. The restaurant which attracts non-hotel people as well features first and foremost a wide range of fresh fish that is caught locally, daily. In addition it offers a variety of the classic Greek dishes that are meat based as well as some dishes based on the Sun-ripened locally produced vegetables that the word delicious does not begin to describe. All and all, the feeling that overtakes you after a day or two at Hotel Solon is that you want to come back to this place. N/S F - Chicago

(+) The location is super. Staffs are helpful. The breakfasts were hearty and adequate. Especially, the hotel's facilities are favorable for families with children. (-) However, the hotel's own beach area was not clean enough, I still can not say it was dirty. In addition, the music which was played on the beach was too loud and annoying for us.

We have managed to visit Tolo (Tolon) every year since 2013 and usually we stay somewhere else but its on a steep hill and my lady doesn't like long climbs after multiple surgeries. Also we wanted to host a vacation for 4 other relatives plus ourselves so the Solon seemed like better value for money. We have eaten at their restaurant and used the public beach next door so we decided to spend a few days there in April to see what it was like as a hotel. Tolo is not an old town (I'm told in 1815 it was a small fishing village) and my guess is that the Solon is post-war, probably the 1950's. Everything works and having lived near the ocean myself 29 years, that says something but in places its a bit faded. The rooms are clean and as part of negotiating for the three rooms later this summer, the owner put us in an ocean side room that really was great, with the sound of the tide to lull you asleep. The restaurant hadn't opened yet because it was very early April, but the breakfast was very good and there are lots of restaurants within walking distance. The wifi was also good and free. The beach is fairly shallow at this point and the water should be clean as it is far from the more commercial part (fishing, tourist sightseeing boats). For once I can write we are going back for 11 days instead of that we'd just like to come back. In answering questions below I said there is no laundry service but the hotel staff can direct you to an excellent laundry service we have used very close to the Tolo Post Office.

In 2014 I wrote a review already, but it was about the restaurant of Hotel Solon, where we regularly had lunch. Since Tripadvisor didn't provide me with the possibility to review that restaurant, I wrote my opinion under the hotel. That time we stayed at Hotel Panorama, but getting older, I don't feel happy sometimes to climb up on the hillside. To change it to another hotel that doesn't require strenuous exercise whenever we walk home, was a necessity. The choice was manifest since we already knew Hotel Solon and liked the location, the gourmet kitchen, and the friendly staff. To be sure, before the whole family goes there for a holiday, we booked three days in April, and Hotel Solon went through the test with high fives. Unfortunately, but understandable the kitchen didn't operate yet since the season just started. We had a room, where the splashing of the waves was our lullaby, and the sound of the same waves welcomed us in the morning, together with the rising sun. Can you dream anything sweeter? In August we'll go to the same room, and I hardly can wait for that happy time.

We’ve been staying at the Hotel Solon in September every year for the past 6 years. This family run Hotel is like a second home. Nothing is too much trouble for George, Dina, Yan and their long serving staff. Waking up each morning to the breathtaking views across the bay and watching the sun rise is unforgettable . The food is home cooked traditional Greek fayre and the salads are magnificent. Thank you for helping to make our stay feel like home from home, we will be back next September.
