Lovely guest house in peaceful surroundings, not too far from Keswick or Cockermouth. I found the room excellent and comfortable, with everything you would need. I really loved Rowan's homemade granola for breakfast, with all the choices fo fruit, a great choice of cooked options too. .

Rowan is a brilliant host who looked after 12 of us when we visited the Lake District to complete a 10 peak challenge for charity. Went out of his way to accommodate us all including 5am breakfast cobs and packed lunches for the walk. I would highly recommend staying at The Link House for a comfy stay. Thank you again... More

We stayed here May bank holiday, in a room with a great mountain view. The area was very peaceful compared to Keswick or Windermere which were packed with the usual bank holiday crowds. Right next to bassenwaithe lake, which was beautiful. Also awesome granola and great hospitality. Would definitely recommend.

One of the cleanest hotels with the best granola and breakfast that I've ever had. Rowan was very friendly and welcoming and offered guide books and advice for walks and drives around the lake district

We stayed a couple of nights on our recent honeymoon and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Rowan was the perfect host and nothing was too much trouble. Our room (room 2) was very comfortable, clean and had stunning views. The whole house was furnished and decorated to an extremely high standard. Everything you could need was provided, toiletries, hairdryer, shoe cleaning... More

Stayed at this hotel the night before my wedding with my mates and it did everything we needed it for. Rooms are clean and have very comfy beds and free wifi. Breakfast was really nice and cooked fresh with plenty to choose from. Rowen looked after us and there was no issues during the stay. I would definitely recommend this... More

The rooms are very clean, well furnished, and the beds are comfy. There is a good variety of drinks, coffee, tea, etc in the rooms. Rowan is veritable fountain of local knowledge, and very helpful when needed. Breakfast again has a good variety. I spent 11 days in the guest house, and cannot fault any of the services provided by... More

We stayed at Link House for 2 nights and can highly recommend the property. It is a beautiful house that has been modernised in keeping with it's age. It has everything that the modern traveler needs (WFI and phone signals may cause some problems) but not an issue for us. It was nice to have a sitting room for residents use... More

We suspect that Rowan may have been a drill-sergeant or headmaster in a previous life. Everything about this set up implies that the guests are an unwelcome addition to Link House. We had the most frosty greeting we've ever had to any hotel, anywhere in the world and we travel a lot with our jobs. There is repeated mention of... More

I've stayed at Link House on two occasions in recent years. The house is well located with splendid views of surrounding hills. The bus to Cockermouth in one direction and Keswick in the other, stops right outside, so arriving and touring by car is not essential. We managed a circular tour via Keswick, Coniston, Ulverston, Barrow and Workington all by... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Link House is a late Victorian Country Guest House, situated on the edge of Bassenthwaite Lake, near the Cumbrian towns of Keswick and Cockermouth, with stunning views of both forests and fells. Traditionally built in the late Victorian age, this country house enjoys stunning views of the forest and surrounding fells including the 3046 feet Skiddaw. The sunny aspect gives a warm and comfortable atmosphere in which to relax and feel at home. We are situated almost half-way between the towns of Keswick and Cockermouth, birthplace of William Wordsworth and the oldest town in Cumbria, just off the A66 at the northern tip of Bassenthwaite Lake. Link House is easy to find. In the quieter part of the Lake District National Park, yet with access to many interesting places to visit such as the Whinlatter Visitor Centre where the Ospreys who nest nearby each year, can be viewed. A peaceful location for the serious walker or for touring by car: everyone claims that — but here it’s true! ... more   less
