This resort was absolutely everything my husband and I were looking for when we booked our Honeymoon (which we waited to do until our first anniversary). It’s secluded and tropical and everything is open air. The grounds of the resort are to die for... BUT we only stayed three of the 7 nights we initially booked because the resort essentially shut down during the week and you were largely left to fend for yourself. Our complaint is less with the lack of amenities, but more with the lack of transparency when booking. We had no idea about the closures until we arrived. We were anticipating at least five or so on-site restaurants. We expected to make some concessions because of Covid.. but this seemed to be more of an off-season issue. The only restaurants offered in the off-season were the Waters Edge, Passion and the Lobby bar. Passion was only open on Friday and Saturday.. so during the week you’re left with the waters edge, lobby and room service... but they all have the exact same menu.. so it’s really only a very limited menu. The swim up bar is not open during the week and neither is the pool side food truck service. My husband and I went to a local grocery store and bought our own snacks and drinks for the pool as well as some breakfast items. (Which isn’t all bad because it’s way cheaper!!) The resort suggested we explore some local eateries for dinner.. so on our anniversary night, which we had planned to celebrate at Prime the steakhouse, we ended up in a local dive restaurant, (30 mins from the resort) which came highly recommended.. and we made the best of it but it certainly was not a romantic anniversary experience and the food was not at all great. The low budget DJ playing in the restaurant however was enough to make us laugh and enjoy the experience for what it was. We ended up leaving after the next night because although the menu was the same, we thought we’d go to the lobby restaurant instead of waters edge for a different venue. At 7 pm they told us they were closed and directed us to Waters Edge. We were hoping for the “all-inclusive” feel.. even though you pay for everything item by item as you go. We wanted to relax and enjoy drinks during the day without worrying about driving to local road side places (which might be perfectly normal local cuisine, just not what we were hoping for on our honeymoon.) All in all, the resort is a lovely tropical paradise, the large and small pools are enjoyable, the beach is small but tranquil.. we just simply felt a bit stranded and couldn’t completely relax without just a few more amenity options. Aka.. we were hungry lol. Don’t hesitate to book this place, just call ahead and make sure what they offer on their website is operational. P.s. every employee on the resort was beyond welcoming and nice!!

Disaster customer services and food, there is no room cleaning until 3th day of stay. Rooms are ok, the hotel is not remodeled. No variety of food options in pool area. Hotel not recommended. Very expensive for the value received.

The location, rooms and facilities are amazing, however due to COVID-19 restrictions there is barely any food options and the restaurants that are open have a limited menu. Beverages were also limited, with no craft beers available and no fresh juice options for cocktails. The only open specialty restaurant is Passion, our service was very slow, and we were brought dirty glasses and utensils multiple times. The pool was unfortunately overcrowded and we did not feel safe being there. Luckily the beach is big with calm waters. The rooms were clean and new, however please note that A/C units have the temperature controlled to a minimum of 72-degrees (as stated by a maintenance employee), therefor the rooms were not as cool as expected for a hotel in a tropical destination and for an expensive hotel.

We booked Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve last minute just for a weekend getaway, trying to be careful with maintaining safe distancing and guidelines of the pandemic. I have to say, this hotel was just perfect. They are careful, compliant, and organized. The rooms are comfortable and quiet. We decided to do room service for breakfast, and the food was surprisingly good!! The potato hash, the eggs perfectly cooked, and the coffee perfectly brewed as well. Food by the pool at the food truck was also really good! Quick service by the side of the pool while you enjoy the pool and drinks. Restaurant Pasion was AMAZING! Everything we ordered was spectacular! We also enjoyed the night by the main bar by the lobby, where the personnel is friendly, and the ambiance is very nice. I DO HAVE TO MENTION, I was getting hot and sweaty (not the good kind) by just looking at the bartenders working the lobby bar. My GOD! Someone should do something about those horrible uniforms! Long sleeves and long pants in a 90 degree weather with no wind and no A/C?! Someone will faint. I'm sure lighter clothing will boost the tropical vibe at the bar, and will make everyone more confortable. Overall: Great weekend. Recommend without hesitation. Kudos to the staff for being extra-friendly. Great work.
