Quiet and intimate or near the action? At the small 24-room Cobalt Coast Resort on Grand Cayman, you don’t have to choose. Our quiet but convenient West Bay location is just a short ride from all the action and excitement of Seven Mile Beach and George Town—by rental car, cab, or public transportation. Before or after dining al fresco, enjoy your favorite beverage at Duppies, overlooking the Caribbean. And Reef Divers makes it easy to reach all the best dive sites, including the North Wall and the Kittiwake wreck.

The Staff, accommodations, food and dive operation are excellent here. Just finished our week dive trip here on Grand Cayman and have enjoyed our time. The resort is small, which I like. Our room was not Oceanfront but very large, modern and comfortable. Chef prepared exceptional meals daily and accommodated my husband dietary requirements incredibly. Dive boats are comfortable/safe and crew were very attentive as well as safety oriented. Offered bottom times of 60 minutes/500 psi. Lovely little beachfront area and ocean view pool. Shore diving is available but the seas did not cooperate (surf was too choppy to allow safe entry/exit from pier) this week.

I am writing this review just before Thanksgiving because I completely forgot to write one when we got back in May. I was reminded because we just booked another trip next summer! There is not enough that we can say about how great the hotel staff, the accommodations and, of course, the on-site dive shop are at Cobalt Coast. We are a dive shop (FLORIDA UNDERWATER SPORTS) located on the West Coast of Florida in Sarasota and this trip is always a guaranteed sellout. This last spring we brought 22+ travelers with us and I can honestly say that not one person had a complaint. Everyone on-site bent over backwards to make sure we were happy with our accommodations. Dive staff is knowledgeable, professional and when you are leading a large group of people all of which are diving at different levels, it’s extremely helpful when the staff is right there to make any changes or to pick up any of the slack. The boats are comfortable and large enough to accommodate our entire group. This particular trip was my first time being a non-diver and I was concerned that I was going to not have as good a time by being left behind. But I can tell you that as soon as the boats left, I had the entire place to myself and I had no problem settling in on the beach to read or floating in the pool listening to soft music and the kitchen preparing for lunch. I ended up working from my room as well and was pleased that I was able to get full powered Wi-Fi for my computer as well as my Wi-Fi enabled phone. I know it’s not the most important thing but I was very thrilled that I could watch all of my favorite shows, with all the networks out of Miami stations as well as HBO because we were right in the middle of Game of Thrones at that point! One day I took a trip to Camana Bay, an upscale outdoor mall with knockout restaurants, a movie theatre and lovely shops...nice alternative to going into town, which is safe but a little too over run by the cruise ship folks. My husband surprised me by booking one of the mermaid suites on the third floor. It was quite something to be perched up overlooking the Caribbean Sea. At night we would hear the waves in the front of the room and in the back of the room, to wake us up in the morning, were the sounds of the roosters (The most beautiful roosters with their hens and lots of little babies are walking around the front of the hotel all the time). The mermaid suite has these soaring ceilings, enormous bathroom as well as a living room space and a little round table where I set up my office. We have already booked it for next trip! I was visiting some of the other travelers and their rooms were very modern clean, bright and beautiful so either way I would’ve been happy in those rooms as well. A few words about the on-site Service staff. I was the person who had the dietetic restrictions on that trip and had a very limited diet. When Miss Kim and the other staff saw me coming they knew to let the kitchen know that I was on my way and they prepared whole meals for me without me reminding them or asking. I was so grateful to Chef Guna (you rock!). The meals were delicious, well presented and weren’t boring!! We had a couple of birthdays and Colin, who is also bartender extraordinaire, went ahead and ordered a cake for us. And again I can’t say enough about Colin you are always a friendly face to see there! Craig and Emma are amazing managers of the property and do everything to make sure you are happy! Don’t even thing twice about booking this resort...such a great place looking forward to our next trip in September!!!

Two week dive trip to Grand Cayman. Traveled with large group of divers. Initially we were like, this is gonna cost an arm and a leg. Well guess what. Not so much. Cobalt Coast includes just about everything !! You never have to leave the property unless you are diving. Weekly BBQ, Also trivia contest which also has Prizes, also be prepared for your Dive masters doing some singing. They are awesome. Concierge diving at it's best. I consider myself a disabled diver and they helped me put my fins on, brought my tank over and basically did it all. Nitrox at $10 a tank very reasonable. You can analyze if you wish but all are 31%. Food, 3 meals a day. Buffet breakfast and lunch dinner is table service. Choice of entree very nice selection that changes every day. Let them know of dietary requirements and they are more than happy to accommodate. Drink package includes 23 drinks a week. New management is renovating all the rooms, the vibe is friendly and laid back. I just love the SiriusXM music playing. We would be at breakfast and after a few too many, Helen was there to play some soothing pre dive music. The rooms were always clean and beds very soft and comfortable. I stayed in room 5 near the dive shop. Diving was easy, no current to speak of. We dove the KittyWake. A must see when in the area. Bad weather prevented us from going to StingRay City. No worries, we say a Spotted Eagle ray so that makes up for everything. All in all. At first glance, it may see expensive but you have to consider all the things that are included. concierge diving 3 dives a day 3 meals a day drink package Unlimited smiles and friendly faces

Since we were here last we knew the dive shop was replaced by Reef Divers with whom we have dived before in Little Cayman and Cayman Brac. We didn't (but should have) know that the owner of those resorts bought Cobalt Coast. There were some things that were different but overall, it was the same great Boutique Dive Resort. The rooms were renovated. The food is still excellent although they changed the meal plan so each day you had a choice of 3 entrees, a meat, a seafood/fish, and a vegetarian. Steaks were on the menu for 3 of the 6 nights and there was a BBQ on Friday night. Breakfast was a basic buffet and lunch was also a buffet with good choices every day, especially considering that it is a very small resort. You can get a package that includes drinks which is worth it if you are going to drink a lot because the drinks are expensive. See our review for Reef Divers for info about the diving

We very much appreciate you staying at our resort and then taking the time to post a review, 2skidivers. We have owned Cobalt Coast for several years, now, and have made a lot of changes with more to come. It is about half the size of our other two resorts, so we had to modify our buffet service to provide good quality, fresh meals to a much smaller number of guests. But we hope that although different, you still recognized our same personal, friendly service for which we've been know much longer at Little Cayman Beach Resort and Cayman Brac Beach Resort. We will look forward to seeing you back here or at another of our resorts, again.

As I told many of the staff, the night before I left to head home... I can't find anything to complain about. From the first day, arriving on the shuttle, to the last night before leaving. The entire staff is so welcoming, and friendly, and quite funny. None of them are uptight. They were so down to earth. Since i was there as a solo traveler, they constantly tried to make sure i was included, or having a good time. They all know your name, right away. How they do it, is beyond me. I'd definitely recommend to anyone, and go back again. Thank you Cobalt Coast!!! Front desk/housekeeping/bar-restaurant/food/dive staff... EXCELLENT!!! Matt R
