Visited this hotel in the hope of a quiet & calm oasis away from my Chemo treatment, and I wasn't disappointed. All the staff from start to finish of our 2 night stay were friendly & treated us like treasured guests, nothing too much bother. Stayed in Room 2 on first floor, which even though it faced the main street, traffic didn't bother us. Both Tea & coffee making facilities were provided, as was a little milk bottle in the mini fridge, and the bathroom was well stocked with gels & shampoos. Bed very comfortable, best nights sleep in ages. Interestingly, being a Georgian building. the hotel has settled a little bit and the floor in the room was a little quirky, but that added to the experience, not a drawback. Breakfast very good with lots of choice; Yogurts, pastries, cereals, fruit, fruit juice, full fry, kippers, salmon, and my favourite, Eggs Benedict; all washed down with as much tea & coffee you could handle. In fact a great way to start the day. We also ate in the hotel restaurant, No 16, food was good, see different review. As regards parking, there are about 10 spaces at the back of the hotel, otherwise park in Dial square. Overall a great 2 night stay. I achieved my respite (staff never knew I was under treatment), and have earmarked a return visit in the next few months.

This is our 3rd stay at the Warkworth House hotel. Check in was quick and efficient and we had room 2 on the first floor. This is great room with a lovely super king bed and sofa. There are some nice additions of a small fridge with complimentary water and fresh milk for tea, and a coffee machine. The Costa capsules were excellent. The central heating was easy to control on each radiator which meant we could get the room to a temperature that suited us.
The room faces to the front of the hotel, overlooking the main road. Whilst there is a bit of traffic noise, it did not stop is have a great sleep.
The toilet and showroom are nicely fitted out with great fluffy towels and housecoats. The shower is good, easy to regulate and with plenty of hot water and nice shower gel.
Breakfast excellent with a nice selection of fresh fruit, juices & cereals etc. The hot food was made to order so was very fresh and hot. As usual and the all the staff in the hotel are really helpful and pleasant.
The car park is small and we always park in the main square behind the hotel which has great big wide spaces, so no risk of door to door damage. We have never had a problem getting a space.
All in all a great stay

We had a voucher from our daughter as an anniversary gift, so tried to book a single night only to find the only room available was on the top floor but there is no lift. My wife would not be able to cope with stairs, so we booked another date when one of the two ground floor rooms was available. Then we checked the dinner menu online and, although it sounded great, there were no prices shown. This often means it’s expensive! Then we received an email from the hotel telling us no check in possible before 4pm, which is very late - especially since it also said checkout must be by 10am and breakfast is only from 8am to 10am. Very limiting for guests! The email also warned the hotel car park is very small and it’s first come first served. However, in the event we managed to check in about 3pm having found the car park almost empty and the the dinner was excellent and reasonably priced.

Good Afternoon alanbq9597GF Thank you for leaving us a lovely review, with a few pointers that I hope I can clarify. We are so pleased that you were not put off by the email you received, this is generated automatically right across the whole system, we have not changed the check in time, as this allows house keeping to do their job thoroughly, as no two days are the same ,and following on from Covid our regime has not changed at all. We can be a little flexible on check out, so long as this is arranged on arrival, but again this all depends on whether or not we have a full Hotel turn around. With regards to our Car Park , yes it is small, but we do advise that should you arrive earlier than check-in, please do park up, simply pop into reception and provide your registration details, and you can enjoy the afternoon exploring our beautiful little village. We are so pleased that you enjoyed our restaurant , I will be sure to pass on your comments to our chefs. We look forward to welcoming you back, in the hopefully not to far distant future. Best Wishes Sharon

We stayed in room 21 a superia double with views over a manicured garden or so they said with staff who can't do enough .. the truth is cheap bedding shabby bed and poor service the hotel is licked at 9.30 with no access to any facilities with a fire roll call left on reception in case of a fire as non of this family run hotel stay on site. We expected a relaxing overnight stay of but stayed in room that doesn't bring any of the benefits the website suggest. The staff are all very young around 16 and dish out the weatherspoons style of food and service. The bathroom is nice The rooms main light is hanging loose on the cable as the chain to support it has snapped and I hit my head twice so I left a chair in the middle of the room to stop me doing so. To say the room as faded slendor is a bit of a joke . We booked a meal in the restaurant for 4 and a dog 🐕 the food was poor for the price along with the wine my sister ordered a coffee at the end of the meal and was presented with various sugars in paper packets similar to burger King she used sackerine by mistake which she is allergic to we asked to change the coffee which the waiter did after asking why she'd used the wrong sugar this would bring on a margarine they charged for the coffee we sent back. When we quired this the manager said you put the sugar in your paying for it
I'm incredibly disappointed with this hotel as as we said to the duty manager we won't be coming back Finally I'd say if your gay stay well away the friendly family run hotel doesn't extend to our sort homophobia is alive and kicking here.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review which is an extremely disappointing one to read, I am sorry to read you did not enjoy your stay with us. We do however feel that some of your comments/accusations have been exaggerated and if taken seriously by others could have a seriously detrimental affect on the hotel and all of the staff who work here, I would like to now take this opportunity to respond. I would firstly like to address your comments regarding the room you stayed. Room 21 is one of our most popular superior doubles, with it being based on the second floor, and giving a more uninterrupted view of the gardens opposite the hotel and of the village main thoroughfare. It is disappointing that you feel that it didn’t meet your expectations and that the room was faded splendour. Due to the age of the building there are many quirky, slightly off centred features throughout the hotel, these are usually commented on by guests as adding character to the building, the hotel was built in the early 1800s so does have a lot of history and retains many of its original features as the building is classed as a 2 star listed protected property there is very little we are able to change, nor would we want to. All of our rooms are constantly maintained and updated, and the shabby chic style of Room 21, is positively commented on by numerous guests that stay in that room. We are aware that the main light does hang low and we are in the process of sourcing a new light fixture that will compliment the room as well as eliminating the risk of guests banging their heads. We were however unaware of the damage to the fixture, this has now been repaired, until it can be replaced. We take offense to your comments about the bedding, all our linen is of the highest quality and showing a picture of an unmade bed ruffled after sleeping does not portray the reality of what you would have been presented with when you checked in. Our housekeeping team work exceptionally hard to ensure that all rooms are cleaned to the highest standard and would never have left a room in a substandard condition for a guest to be greeted with. In regards to the hotel being closed overnight, most smaller family run hotels like ourselves operate with no night porter and will leave an evacuation list with an emergency contact number as is required by law. Having spoken to the team on shift that evening, we are left puzzled by your comment of the hotel being shut by 9.30pm, especially as none of our staff had left by that time. I would now like to address your comments regarding the meal and service you received on Sunday evening. You mention that you thought that the food was poor but you have not elaborated on which part you thought was not up to scratch. We are slightly confused by your comparison of us to Wetherspoons. Our chefs work extremely hard to provide food of the highest quality, and if they are not happy with a dish they will not send it out, to suggest otherwise is a slight on our kitchen practices at the hotel. Also if a guest is not happy with a dish when it is received we do our upmost to rectify it as quickly as possible. We aim for a warm relaxed casual dining experience in our bistro with a welcoming atmosphere where our guests can relax and chat over a drink and some wonderful freshly prepared food. Our front of house team includes several young waitresses who work hard to ensure that every guest is looked after. Our team has worked tirelessly over a very busy summer period, and have been highly praised all summer long for the service that they have provided, we understand that some mistakes may be made at some point but we continually offer training to ensure that these things don’t continue to happen and affect our guests. Having checked with our staff on duty with regards the situation with the coffee that you have mentioned, I am satisfied that the situation was fixed quickly and that we had offered to take the coffee off the final bill but the lady in question insisted on paying for it. At no point after this were anymore issues raised to the duty manager on shift in the evening, or in the morning upon check out, when you were asked how your stay with us had been. This would have been the ideal time to bring up any upsets that you had experienced so we could have tried to rectify them and provide you with a more positive end to your stay. Unfortunately you have chosen to air your grievances on a very public platform where this is little we can say or do to change your opinion. I would finally like to address your most serious accusation that comes with potentially harmful consequences which is the unfounded comment of the homophobic treatment you categorically did not receive during any point of your stay. We pride ourselves on being a safe and supportive space for all members of the LGBTQ+ community, and would never be anything else. We can only hope this clears up some of the points you have raised again and would like to assure you of our best intentions at all time. I can only once again express how genuinely disappointed I feel that we were unable to satisfy your expectations on this occasion. I hope that this response can clear up some of your frustrations and grievances.

Friendly welcome on arriving and a offer of help with luggage, explained the dog was allowed in both the lounge and bar. We had booked room 7 which was a elite suite, even with a extra large bed and free standing wardrobe there was plenty of room left to put up the large dog crate without falling over it, nice size bathroom with large bath and separate shower over bath, large bath towels nice selection of bodywash etc and bath robes. There were dog bowls, towels and a treat also in the room Also in the room we had a coffee machine and a selection of capsules also a mini fridge with bottle of fresh milk and some bottled water, there was also a nice sizes tele. We had dinner in the hotel and ate in the lounge where we could take our dog, staff again very friendly, food was excellent, my wife had the steak and ale pie and I had the lamb shank, quality and potion size was very good. Breakfast was excellent, good selection of choice. Would recommend this to friends and would certainly visit again if back in this area

Lovely comfortable room & friendly helpful staff. We stayed in ‘Superior Double Suite’ which was well provisioned, very comfortably furnished with a really excellent bed. The spotless bathroom had towels & robes were soft and lovely to use. Our dog was made welcome with food & water bowls, a towel, a fleece blanket and a chew treat (a walk by the river is only a two minute walk away). The included breakfast was delicious and had plenty of variety (pastries, cereals, fruit, yoghurt and several cooked options - all of which was delicious). The staff were all friendly and mist helpful. Parking is limited (we were fortunate to get a space) but a public parking area is close by. Definitely recommend this hotel & would stay here again anytime we visit Warkworth.

This is the third time we have stayed here and we will certainly be back, this is one of my favourite hotels to stay, brilliant location, dog friendly, excellent staff and great room and food. We have always stayed in room 7, large superior suite with a super king be, The bed is extremely comfortable and I had 3 really good night sleeps. Nice size bathroom. Room is very spacious with room for a dog bed without falling over it every time you moved. There is a separate dinning area for guest with or without dogs, there is also a bar where people can eat. Food and drink prices were very reasonable especially the food considering the size of the potions, fish in the fish and chips was largest I have seen, we dined 2 nights and also a Sunday roast all the food was excellent. All the staff are excellent and very attentive, always had time for guests. Would certainly recommend to family and friends

We stayed for one night at the end of a walking holiday. It was nice to have help with the bags to our rooms after walking from Craster. The room was spacious, comfortable and nicely decorated and I felt spoilt by having a bath and separate shower cubicle. There was a lovely friendly welcome. They also helped research bus times to Alnmouth station and booked a taxi to take us there. We didn’t eat dinner in the hotel, but bar service was friendly, Breakfast was good with a good choice of dishes and cereals/yoghurts, service was good. Would definitely stay here again. They do need to update some of the information in the room which said you could walk between Craster and Warkworth in 3.5 hours (I don’t think you could run it in that time!). Downsides, no local gins in the bar, two of the rooms we’d booked were lacking toiletries (very apologetic on this), and the taxi we’d booked turned up early, seemed to think we’d got the time he was booked for wrong then told us he was dropping us at the London side of the tracks at Alnmouth station (he didn’t)…if this is someone the hotel uses regularly it’s not a good look.

We booked a short weekend/weekday stay arriving on Sunday. Disappointingly sunday roast was lunchtime only but regular menu menu was available in the evening. Opted for the Lamb shank and Beef bourgeon both were enjoyable and ample. Taylor’s landlord pint was really good, House wine ok. Room was comfy and we slept well. Staff were friendly and helpful. Fried breakfast was tasty but would have enjoyed some black pudding as an option. Good location, parking was no problem, you just need to read the instructions before hand and approach from the back not through the arch at the front.

Called in for an early Saturday evening meal as we'd been given a recommendation from a mutual client. The staff are great, they make you feel very welcome and nothing is too much trouble. We were shown to the restaurant and ordered the Prawn & Crayfish Cocktail and Creamy Baked Garlic Mushrooms with Northumbrian Stilton Sauce. both of which were very tasty and good value for money. We followed this with Battered Cod & Chips (£16.50 ) and a Warm Cajun Chicken Salad (£16.50). The fish was coated in a good light batter with twice cooked chips and homemade mushy peas. It was also served piping hot, which we find to be a rarity when eating out these days. The Cajun Chicken Salad was also excellent and would satisfy the hungriest of people. All in all, lovely traditional surroundings, super-friendly staff, great food and VFM. I think we'll try their Sunday Lunch next time....definitely would return.
