We'd never been to the Isle of Whithorn before, often bypassing on the way for a ferry or visit to Portpatrick, but it's a hidden gem. Quiet and unspoiled bay with great walking and accessible rock fishing into tidal water.

called in for a cup of tea, sat outside overlooking the harbour. our drinks were brought out to us by a friendly waitress,
great value, pot of tea for two, biscuits and a lemonade for £3.50.

We sat outside as the weather was so good, but I believe dogs were allowed in the bar. The owner appeared to be a dog lover, bringing a little treat of some scraps from the kitchen for one of the dogs near us.

"Rooms with harbour view are nice. I wouldn't want a rear facing room overlooking the horrible yard."
