Paid £370 for 2 nights expecting something a bit special - it wasn't. Left after one night even though we paid for the second night. Noisy pub - bedroom only a few feet from a busy road. Could not recommend.

I have visited this pub on a few occasions and have each time found the food and service to be adequate but nothing to write home about and certainly over-priced, didn't bother to stay for desserts £7 each or coffees at our last visit. I wanted to book a table for my last visit (for 4 people ) as I... More

What sort of gastropub refuses to accept orders for food? Our birthday celebrations were a little spoiled when the kitchen stopped taking orders when only half our party had ordered. Not something I have experienced in 30 years of eating in pubs. Fortunately The White Horse (1 minute away) was serving food and is a very nice pub too.

We loved pretty much everything about this place. It's quite an olde worlde style pub with traditional timbers, big old fireplace and other preserved elements, but they've managed the tricky task of making it very modern at the same time. The pub is in the lovely old village of Ditchling, a couple of miles from the Ridgeview winery (well worth... More

I went for lunch today with a friend and both had delicious fish and chips. Eton mess desert was a disappointment, only three strawberries sliced on a plate with little blobs of cream and a couple of slabs of meringue. Not nearly messy enough and. really over priced. Two women on an adjoining table with barking dogs were annoying, particularly... More

Visiting the village for the first time it was great as they also had their village summer fete on. Interesting church and the village high Street. We then discovered the Bull Inn. What a great place, full of dark beams and odd tables, chairs and benches Sensible sixe menu and they have got a Gem of a chef there! had... More

First day off and we decided to visit the village of Ditchling and walk through the woods to Hassocks. We thought we'd have lunch in Hassocks so had a quick wander around and came across The Bull. After a quick look at the menu we decided to have the Olives and Baked Camembert to share as starters and the Cod... More

Great English pub with charming old inn features, good local beer and lovely locally sourced restaurant menu. The bedlam beer is really good. We had smoked mackerel and then beer battered cod with skinny hand made chips, and pees. Also honey glazed parsnips and baby carrots. The cheese plate really nice. All local cheese. Service is also polite and prompt.

We stayed for two nights and ate both nights dinner and breakfast. Loved the room and great food, service was fun and friendly. The DVD library was great and we had an awesome escape without the children, thoroughly recommend it! COD bites were fantastic and the nibbles are definitely worth a look.
