I checked it 2 weeks ago but gave it up as it was full with construction company workers. It seems they have shifted focus from travelers to permanent company guests. It didn't seem cozy or clean enough for tourists. Rooms have been adapted to receive as many people as possible so they look quite cramped.

We stayed in Hostel Pachamama based upon the recommendation of a friend and it did not disappoint. The hostel is newly renovated and is NOT a place for miners anymore. One of the few hostels in the region that is focused on sharing. It has a nice common room, big kitchen and dining room. You can play board games or watch movies with other backpackers while you get used to the altitude. It has a nice inner garden with a pair of hammocks for the sunny days. There is only...

Positive: - Nice courtyard to relax - Good mattrasses - Kitchen Negative: - Cleanliness is very poor. The toilets were cleaned once in 4 days even though it was more than obvious that they desperately needed cleaning. - The rooms are carpeted and I have no idea when they have been dusted/cleaned the last time. There is stuff lying around...

Our room was clean, but in wintertimes probably a bit cold because of missing radiators (additional blankets are availible). The beds are huge. If you want to take a warm shower (not naturally in this area) you have to ask sometimes for switching on the hot water tank. The hostel warden is a very nice (English speaking) guy and we...
